Bubblegum Collision
A Bubblegum Crisis fanfiction by Douglas A. Reeves
Part Two - Midnight Ride
"Oh, Nene," Sylia fought back tears as she was reminded of the anger
that so tortured her young friend. No matter what Nene said, Sylia would
always believe that it was in part her fault, and with that thought came
pain
that overwhelmed her cold facade. "I'm so sorry..."
The one thing about this story that I'm still having trouble with is Sylia
constantly falling apart like this. I know she's not always the Ice Queen,
but it seems like she's way too weepy. Maybe it's just my personal opinion
about Sylia's character getting in the way.
Ok, here's my take on this. Sylia has never in her life faced failure.
Certainly never has she felt responsible for injury to one of her own. In
addition to that, the one who was injured was the resident innocent, whose
innocence has now been wounded.
I have always seen Sylia's relative lack of visible emotion as her
method of providing the Knight Sabers with strength. If she never seems to
be affected by anything, then they will think she is invincible.
Nevertheless, the strongest of walls must come down eventually. (Trust me.
I KNOW). Sylia is faced with a tragedy, and worst of all, in her mind it is
HER fault. Note, though, that only on this one occasion does she break down
in front of anyone else. The other scenes were all when she was alone.
(Unless I forgot to correct something. In the original version of the 'fic
it was not that way, but I intended to make this the only breakdown in front
of another person. If I have erred here, please do point it out.)
The storm that raged over head paled in comparison to the one in
Nene's heart. At the first sight of the Genom research and development
facility, a swell of anger rose up from within her like she had never
known.
Ultimately, Genom was to blame for all her suffering, and she would make
them hurt for it.
Er... I thought Nene was blaming Christine for everything.
Genom hired Christine. Nene knows that. Thus, Genom is to blame, in
the end.
This is not to say that she doesn't hold a very passionate hatred of
Chris, however.
Oh well... so, when do we get to see part 3?
Soon as I can finish revising it. The revisions to part three will be much
greater than those to the other parts, so it may take some time.
