	The thing that would complicate this is the fact that Ranma thinks of 
himself as a guy, whatever his form.  Takahashi did do a story in the Manga 

        Well, I did read a fanfic where Ranma gets hit on the head and suddenly
believes she is a girl even when in boy form!  Then she fell madly in love with 
Kuno...and they got married.

        The lesson in this is : If you screw with his mind...he will think
he is a girl
and so can fall in love with any guy he wants.

where Ryouga tried to use a magic fishingpole to make Akane fall in love with 
him, but got Ranma instead.

        Heard about that.  Cant get my hands on any manga though...I am
so deprived <*Sniffle*>

	Well, off hand I can think of two ways to justify such a situation:
1, Seperation.  Seperate Ranma's male and female sides, and then have Ryouga 
acompany Ranma-chan on her quest to Jusenkyo so she can use the Nanichuan to 
become Male at least part of the time.  However by the time they reach the

pool 

and learn the curse wouln't affect her, she's gotten used to being female

and is 

starting to fall for Ryouga.

        I think I read a fanfic similar to this...doesnt seem to be the same
if theres
a Ranma (male version) around as well. (*sigh*)

2, Love potion mishap.  Colougne obtains and starts translating a european 
Alchaemic grimour, and Shampoo sees a love potion entry and makes and tries it 
on Ranma before Colougne gets to translating the part which says the potion

only 

works on Women.  Ranma is thus unaffected when Shampoo gives it to him, but

when 

he fights with Ryouga shortly afterward, he gets splashed and the potion kicks 
in.  However it only affects her when she's female, when male he's unaffected.

        Hey!  Werent *you* supposed to write this?

PS  Since were talking about Ranmas male & female side...whats the
mistake (see Fanfic Error Drinking Game) in calling the male version
Ranma-kun & the female version Ranma-chan?  From the Ran-chan,
Ucchan thing, I guess -chan is an affectionate term...any comments?
