what i meant was the way Rumiko Takahashi
renders different colors in gray-scale.  Like I said, light
hair is half-toned or just white.  Just look at the Happi Love 
Pills beach episode(at the various beach girls' hair), or Akane's
clothes throughout the issues, or Cologne's hair, or Tsubasa's 
hair.  Yet Ranma-chan's hair is a solid black.  That must mean
she has dark-colored hair...and I vote that color is black.

Hmm... This sounds like an old arguement. I'm not so sure that
you can just say "it's black!" offhandly like that. If it's NOT
red, (and I don't claim to know which is the real case) then why,
pray tell, is onna Ranma's hair red on the covers of the tankoubons?

The way I see it, Rumiko-sensei decided to give onna Ranmna red hair
because it is as unjapanese as is possible and highlights the 
difference between the two forms. The situation in the tankoubons is 
simply a by-product of trying to imply a deep red in a black and 
white setting. So there! ;}
