Also, what you write about. Straight Ranma gets the most C&C. BGC and
Sailor Moon run second. Anything else, well, feel lucky if you get any
C&C at all.
Also, IMO avoid writing mega-crossovers unless you *really* believe in
what you're doing and that you can carry it off. I am absolutely certain DC
will be ignored by certain people simply because of the number of animes it
includes, e.g. someone who dislikes R1/2, P: A-ko, BGC, DHY, DP, SM (both
versions in this case) or AMG is unlikely to read it unless another included
anime is a particular favourite of their's and overcomes their aversion to
something else. Added to this is the probable hesitation to plunge into
something like this through a certainty that the author (In this case myself),
being unknown to them might make a travesty of something so complicated. I've
started in the worst possible way (both a walloper of a crossover and a huge
'fic) and have still had not a single truly negative comment. I really have
*very* little right to complain concerning the FFML or the limited response DC
has received considering the monster I'm trying to tame.
If it's not a series (or crosses over into a series) I'm not
familiar with and the story/writting style doesn't reach out and grab
me, I don't read it. And that seems true for the rest of the list.
I try to take a look at absolutely everything that arrives here and
usually manage to get through anything, shocking writing, lemon and absurd
premise excepted. If the spelling/grammar is a real mess, the story is lemon-
centred (as opposed to one where skipping the lemon doesn't affect the story)
or the basis ridiculous I tend to give up. Also, I avoid anything with a
MST3K variation in the title. BRRRR!
