I do not want to start another thread of spam based on this, I just
want an answer. Is this ML truly for all authors, or just the few that
are very well known?

I'm guessing that the list is for everybody, and so far, I've
found it to be quite helpful. I havn't always had all that much
feedback, but what I have had has usually come via private E-Mail.
I just know that this whole discussion has left me feeling like a
bit of a hypocrite. After all, I _really_ like getting C&C... but send
out a dismal amount of my own. I think the fundemantal problem is time..
I've only got so much of it to devote to writing, and if I have to chose
between writing a fanfic, or commenting on one... well, writing usualy
wins. I don't even feel all that comfortable criticizing
somebody else's work. Heck, I don't even know what to critisize!
Grammar ain't all that important to me; the ideas, plot, and
characterisation is. But even there - everyone has a different idea of
what is _in_ character and what isn't. I've had conflicting C&C for the
same story telling me I had Ranma and co. dead on... and way off. But
then again... that's what makes fanfics interesting.

In the end, though, it isn't the C&C that makes me write the
fanfics. I write because I actually enjoy it. The C&C is just a really,
really nice incentive. And an MST3K type C&C would just make my day.
There are some great, consistant C&Cers on the ML, too, like Mike
Loader, and recently (I think) Slashtooth. And overall, most fanfics
that show up good. Some recent ones have been great: I'm really enjoying
Scoop, and I really can't understand why Zen was hesitant to post Rock
and a Hard Place. Neko-Philia is almost as good as the title (which is
one of the best I've seen), and some of the creepier ones, like
Appearances, have, well, done what they set out to do quite well.
I've only been here for 'bout a month, but hell, it's been worth
it - even the trouble I got in with the school for exploding my mailbox.
