A Ranma 1/2 Fanfic
Lone Man and Wolf
Part 3

It has been two weeks since our trial for Amazon status, and Myu
has started working at the Nekohanten. Cologne thought that it would
be good for her to interact with the customers, giving her the
experience of dealing with others.

I have been busy as well, learning from Cologne, Mr. Tendo and Mr.
Saotome, plus trying to repair the damage to the Tendo home. I never
thought that year I spent working construction would come in this
handy. I had needed the money at the time, and it was the best I
could get.

Looking at the wall in front of me, I was impressed. I had
started on the dojo, as that is where the most damage was. After
salvaging what I could of the roof, I had began on the walls. After
three days of work, I sanded the last seam, and there was no trace of
the damage that had weaked the wall. Only three more to go, and then
the rest of the house.

Of course, I could not have gotten this far if it had not been for
Nabiki. She seemed to be able to find anything I needed to repair
the house without needing any money. Of course, she told me not to
ask too many questions.

"Ranma, You get back here! "My cooking isn't that bad!" Akane's
voice rang out through the house. They were up to it again. At
first, I thought it was cute, a young couple loving to hate each
other. Now it was annoying. Every time they fought, I wound up with
more work to do.

That's when the most annoying thing happened. Ranma's face
appeared in the wall. Actually, through the wall. Akane came in
through the door, a mere two feet to the right, and glared at Ranma.
"Serves you right, you Baka! "Next time, maybe you will eat my
cooking!" Ranma snapped awake at that, and responded with "If I
wanted to poison myself, I would go get Kodachi to cook for me!"

Akane's face twisted into an evil smirk, her battle aura starting
to rise around her. "Then why don't I send you on your way!" she
snapped, and swung her mallet back, preparing to bash Ranma through
the roof into A high altitude flight.

They had to be stopped. I reached out, grabbing Akane's mallet
when she completed her backswing. Akane spun, releasing the mallet,
and yelled at me, "How dare you interfere! Ranma deserves to be
pounded!" "That may be," I replied, "But that does not mean
destroying a weeks worth of work! "Look at this wall, it was perfect
just a few seconds ago!"

Akane seemed to droop in on herself. She turned, looking at the
head sized hole in an otherwise pristine wall. "I'm sorry," she said
slowly, "can I help you fix it?" Ranma came up behind her at this
point, and once again, spoke before thinking. "Why help him do it?
"It's how he is paying for training!"

Akane reached out for her mallet, but I had already sprung. It
was one thing to give fair work for training, but to be expected to,
just because, was too much for me. Throwing Ranma into the backyard,
through the rear door of the Dojo, I lept out after him. "Ranma, I
have had enough of your mouth!"

Ranma landed on his feet, a smug look on his face. "Ok then,
let's see what you've got!" I landed next to him, suddenly realising
where my temper had landed me. Over the last two weeks, Cologne had
been trying to get me to duplicate the chi shield, as she called it,
but I had not been able to do it again. Cologne has been showing me
little, concentrating mainly on Myu, and Mr. Tendo and Mr.
Saotome never seemed to leave the go board, except to eat, so my
training in the Anything goes school had been minimal at best.

Still, I had started this, and I was going to finish it. A quick
glance showed me that Akane had stormed off, so there would be no help
there, and with Myu at the Nekohanten, I was on my own. Determined to
keep Ranma on the defensive, I closed with him, unleashing almost
every attack I knew. Punch, kick, spin with a forarm smash, I tried
to combine everything into a solid stream of attacks.

Ranma dodged them all. He was faster than anyone I had trained
with before. No wonder Shampoo was after him. A warrior like this
was the perfect match for an Amazon. I stopped, crouching, and tried
to catch my breath. Ranma just smiled and said "Not bad, but far to
slow. "My turn, are you ready?" Ranma started off slow, as I had,
and began speeding up his attacks. Blocking, dodging, and weaving all
over the backyard, it was all I could do to stay away from him.
Finally, his attacks started to reach amiguriken speed, but he was not
acutally using that technique.

I was losing. Badly. Several of Ranma's punches have gotten
through, and he hits hard. There was only one course of action left.
Jumping and spinning, I head right for the pond. Ranma leaps after
me, too late realising where I am headed. Ranma twists in flight,
trying to avoid the pond, while I head straight for it.

Jumping back out of the water, using the agility of my wolf
form much better than my Human form. I launch myself in Ranma's
direction. Using my rear legs to boost myself off of him, pushing him
into the water, I leap onto the roof, from where I drop in front of
the house, running for the gates.

"Come back here, Dammit! "I haven't finished beating on you yet!"
Ranma-chan's voice carried rather well, and I could hear her swearing
nearly a mile away. I didn't know where I was going, I just knew that
I needed to calm down and find some hot water.

There, that restraunt. I had heard Ranma mention Utchan's, run by
one of Ranma's fiancees. How that boy got four Fiancees, I will never
know. He seems to attract trouble like, well, using an american
metaphor, like flies to dung.

I slunk around back, and opened the rear door. Seeing no
available hot water in the back, I stuck my nose through the curtain.
There, whipping up food, was one of the strangest sights I had seen.
A woman, dressed as a man, was cooking up a storm. Her hands were
blurs as she prepared Okonomiyaki. She moved with a style and grace,
as if cooking were her life. I inched forward to get a better look.

"AAAAAHHHHH!" screamed a customer, pointing in my direction. The
cook spun around, saw me, and reached behind her, grabbing the biggest
spatula I had ever seen. I could also see a bandolier of small
spatulas slung over her shoulder. She charged at me, bringing the
large spatula down. Not wanting a long, drawn out fight, I lept
beside her, and bounded to the pot of water sitting on the grill.

She spun again, throwing several of the small spatulas at me. I
had to dodge to the left, else get struck by the small projectiles.
Fortunatly, one of them hit the pot, spraying the hot water all over,
drenching me, the food she was cooking, and her. I dove over to the
stove, hiding myself from the customers, and frantically reached into
the belt scatchel I always carry for the clothes. Pulling them on, I
looked up to see a very angry woman staring down at me.

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" She asked, the
overgrown spatula held at the ready. "My name is Samuel, and I am
training at the Tendo Dojo!" I quickly stammered out. To my suprise,
she dropped the spatula, a smile crossing her face. "So, you're the
new student at the Dojo! "Ranchan mentioned you, but he forgot to
tell me that you were cursed as well."

"Ranchan... Ah! You must be Ukyuo. "I got in a fight with Ranma,
and we landed in the pond. "I saw your restraunt, and thought I might
be able to get some hot water here. "Sorry about any confusion." I
stood, looking myself over. I had several bruises, and it felt like
my stomach was a lot flatter from all the blows that had landed there.

"Wow, it looks like Ranchan worked you over pretty good. "What
happened to cause this?" Ukyou looked slightly distracted, as if she
was thinking of something, or someone else. "Ranma and Akane were
fighting again, and they destroyed part of the wall I had just
repaired."

"That's Akane all right. "Bashing my Ranchan seems to be her
favorite pastime. "Have a seat, you look like you could use some
rest, and I will cook you up some food." She was right, of course. I
could use a rest, and I was feeling slightly hungry. Ukyou went over
to the stove, shaking her head at the mess, and whipped up a
Okonomiyaki in what seemed like record time.

I had just started eating when a disgusted looking Ranma-chan
walked in the door. "Hi Ukchan, hows things going?" She started to
sit in a booth, when she saw me. "You! I haven't finished with you!"
Ranma-chan yelled, and she lept at me, only to be intercepted by
Ukyou's giant spatula and a steaming Okonomiyaki. "Sit down, Ranchan,
I told you I didn't want you fighting in here." Ranma plopped down
gloomily, but perked up at the food.

"Thanks Ukchan! "You just saved my life!" Ranma began to tear
into his food as if it were the last meal he would ever eat. Three
more Okonomiyakis later, Ranma was still shoveling the food in his
mouth. I walked over to Ukyou, and offered to help clean up the water
mess, since I was part of reason there was a mess.

Ranma looked at Ukyou and me, seeing a small look of suprise on
Ukyou's face at my offer. It seemed that nobody ever offered to clean
up their messes before. Grabbing a mop from the back, I began to get
the water off of the floor.

Ranma just sat there, watching me help Ukyuo. When the mess was
cleaned, Ukyou walked up to me, saying "Thanks. I appreciate the
help. "This meal is on me." "Gee, thanks Ukyou, that's nice of you!"
I replied, the brief smile on her face, a real smile, told me that she
really appreciated my help.

I left Ukchans then, hoping to get home before Myu got there. I
didn't want to miss any of the little time we had together. Since the
Tendo's didn't have any more guest rooms, Myu and I were sleeping in
the dojo. I had to ask Mr. Tendo if he would like me to add on
another guest room. Myu and I could use the privacy, and those early
mornings with the Saotomes fighting in the dojo and the backyard were
starting to wear on my nerves.

Myu was waiting for me, however, and I had to tell her about my
fight with Ranma. She did not look happy, but was calmed when I told
her how I had gotten away and forced Ranma into the pool. Both of us
already knew how much Ranma hated to be a girl, and it was fitting
punishment. We retired to the dojo, snuggling up for a good night's
sleep.

Of course, that was not to be. Ranma came busting into the dojo,
yelling at the top of his lungs. "How dare you take off in the middle
of a fight, just to turn around and embaress me in front of Ukchan!"
Ranma dropped into a fighting stance. He looked mad enough to really
hurt someone bad. Just as he was getting ready to pounce, Akane
stormed in. "So HERE you are! "Disturbing our guests, and
threatining them! "I should pound you, but I won't, because it will
damage the work our friend has done repairing the dojo." Akane
stormed out at that, leaving a startled Ranma to stare after her.

"Leave it to that tomboy to mess up a perfectly good fight. "She
is right though, you have done a good job fixing the dojo. "I will
let it go this time, but remember, I will not forget this." Ranma
hurried after Akane, and I could see a glimmer of hope in his eye,
probably hoping that Akane would listen to him for once, instead of
just bashing him with a mallet.

The end for now, I hope to have part four available soon!
