Very comfortable footwear ;)

Usually a rubber base with appropriate grip, and cloth covering the foot 
and forming a sort of boot halfway up to the knee (can tuck the legs of 
the gi into them)   And they have a seperation between the big toe and 
the res (you *do* have socks to match right? ;) )
