Great story! More! More!
Your take on Shampoo was interesting. I've actually known some ESL
people who have done what Shampoo does. Still, I'm not sure it really
fits with Shampoo's character. I don't think anyone has ever called her
or thought of her as stupid in the manga. (Kun-chan, on the other
hand... "Shampoo shook her empty head. It rattled.")
It didn't take very long for Shampoo to know enough Japanese to get by, did
it? That indicates some serious smarts (or head for languages) on her part.
On the other hand, she's been treated like a bimbo because of her lack of
language skills. Remember, it's very hard to learn any language after 10,
which is why I think secondary language education should begin in
elementary school.
When's your setting for this story? You do know that Nodoka knows,
right? Are we still somewhere in the middle of the manga? If so, you
may have difficulty maintaining the status quo at the end of the story,
the way things are shaping up. I could be wrong. :)
Well, Nodoka found out in, what, volume 36? The series ended with volume
38. I'd say that was pretty late. Especially considering that nothing much
changes since Ukyou joined the troop, except that the characeters keep
getting more powerful.
