"Gosunkugi no BAKA!!" Noriko shouted. "You wasted an entire roll
taking pictures of AKANE??"
Gos the reporter. The mind boggles.
No, Gos the *photographer*. Photojournalists are a completely different
species. You should know that by now. :) Of course, the ad staff is not
just a completely different species, but a completely *alien* one. :)
Not on a HS paper. The guy with the camera one day is the guy interviewing
the football team tomorrow.
Hmmm. Didn't work that way at the UDK. The photo people were mostly
hanging around in the darkroom sniffing chemicals... while the reporting
staff sat up in the newsroom, guzzling Mt. Dew and tearing their hair out
to meet deadlines, then waiting an hour or more for the associate editors
to give the stories the first and second read-throughs.
With lightning speed, Mr. Watanabe hurled the letter opener in
Noriko's direction. Before Noriko could even gasp in surprise, her
reflexes took over her body and Noriko caught the blade just centimeters
>from her face. "What did you that for?? You could have been killed!
I like how she was concerned about _his_ safety. :)
Overall, Noriko is portrayed very well. Editors tend to be fairly nice,
if stubborn, people - unless you work under them. Then the relationship
becomes akin to the one between galley slaves and the whip dude.
Good first chapter. Kick out the rest soon. :)
You'd better believe it. :) The grammar does need some extra work, but
that can be handled. It appears to be time for the introduction of...
dare I say it... Martial Arts Journalism? <g,d,rvvf!>
Naw....couldn't be. (Knowing grin)
Hmmm. Admittedly, I didn't think of things that way in the semester I
served as the Science Editor; my minions were all volunteers, and we only
got one page every two or three weeks. :( The rest of the Ediot-orial :)
staff were unassailable... if you wanted to live, that is. :) I *still*
complain occasionally about the editor who would throw perfectly good
technical terms out of my stories because they weren't in the AP
Stylebook, never mind the multiple examples I showed them in industry
magazines. :(
You could also bring in Nabiki to handle the Ad staff. That could make
things rather interesting indeed... :)
Ergh. Ad people are...they're...well, we think they bring in money. Not
really sure. Some friends at work and I have attempted to communicate with
them, but haven't had much luck. We're considering disecting one to find
out what it's made out of. ;)
Let me know if you find out, would you?
Actually :), my first contacts with the UDK were with the ad staff; I
did some work maintaining the Ad Staff's DTP computers when I was in my
first year at the j-school.
And Nabiki *would* be a perfect fit. :)
