For ten years now, I've been writing a book in my head. I've gotten so
far as to write a few scenes here and there. I'm not sure if it's any
good, so I'd like to share the first few chapters with you. If the
response is good enough, I'll keep writing new chapters and may actually
end up with a whole book.
When I expressed an interest in posting chapters on the FFML before,
White Wolf asked me not to. So what I'm asking for is brave volunteers
to be put on a mailing list to receive chapters as I write them.
I will impose one major requirement: you must be able to read Word for
Windows documents. My story so far is written in that format, with
italics and stuff that I don't want to try and convert somehow to plain
text. This shouldn't be a terrible burden, as there are tons of Word
for Windows readers out there (Windows 95 comes bundled with one).
Also, every major word processor has a Word for Windows converter
(unless it's more than a couple of years old). So this shouldn't slow
you down *too* much.
If I could get some readers, I would be forever grateful. I'm not
saying this work is any good (I have some serious reservations which I
will share with my first mailing), but if nothing else I can know to
toss the whole thing aside and start on something else.
It's a sci-fi / fantasy story. One of those let's-save-the-universe
plots, tied in with studies of power corrupting; what constitutes
barbarism; and a reluctant love story thrown in. It's a *long* story,
so it may take a while before we get to the meat of the plot.
So if you have the patience, fortitude, and critical skills necessary to
withstand my onslaught, I'd love to have you on my mailing list. If my
story gets published (I can dream, can't I?), I'll give you all credit
in the dedication and - what the heck? - 1% of the profits I earn (quit
deluding yourself, Lawson!).

I'll wait a few days for responses before sending out the first bits.
Thanks!
