Ok, a short fic from the Trickster. Hack it to bits and mail me the

( I was going to call this 'Another Point Of View' but... ;) )

                         Work, in the ADP.

"Ha! Two Aces! Top that!"

I looked down at my cards, frowning. I couldn't match them, nor could I
prove that he was cheating.

'Big City kodoku-na Heart to Heart'

"Alright already, you won. De.." I started to continue, but was
interupted by the strident note of the alarm.

My comment of "Shit, Lets finish this later." went unheard as all of our
cards were face down on the table, flung there in an automatic reflex to
the alarm. You don't live this long without having good reactions.

Halfway down the hall to our vehicles, still putting on combat armour
while running, I caught up to Kozo. "I still think you cheat at that."
"Catch me at it then" he sneered in response.
I thumped him on the back in response and ran over to my assigned
vehicle, where half of my squad mates were already.

"GET A MOVE ON DIASUKE!" bellowed a familar voice, "THERE ARE PEOPLE DYING
OUT THERE!"

'Big City namida wa Day by Day'

Repressing an urge to shout back, I positioned myself in the back, and
started my prefight equipment checks. As the troop carrier moved out of
HQ and started at high speed towards the incident site, there was little
conversation. Most were involved in equipment checks <As if our stuff
does any good> and possible last thoughts.

'nemuranai omoi wo yusaburu dake'

We arrived a block away from the site of the report in a sudden side skid
<Idiot! Does he want to kill us before those things do?>, and poured out,
the sargent shouting orders to get into a blockade.

'kon'ya wa HARIKEEN'

"15, 23 and 48! Block that sidewalk!"
<15. Thats me.> I grabbed two of the riot barriers <as if they'd stop a
Buma> and ran over to the sidewalk, slotting them into the ones carried
by my squadmates Minoru and Yuji. <Now comes the hard part. We wait to get
slaughtered.>

'tsutaetai no Loving You... [Loving You]'

The fight began, as always, badly. Sensors indicated that the lone human
walking towards us was NOT human, and we opened fire, hoping to damage it
before it expanded into its combat form. The Buma did not oblige us.
Ripping its skin and clothing off itself, <I always thought they did that
just for the terror value>, the C55 proved the sensors correct and
expanded into its combat form.
<Big, Blue and..> I rolled to one side as it fired its mouth cannon <and
prone to Broadsides>.

'kon'ya wa HARIKEEN'

We of course returned the favour, opening up with all of our weaponary.
It mostly ignored our fire, grabbing two of the advance officers and
flinging them like paper dolls into our barricade. Things went downhill
from there.

'hitomi wo kumoraseru no ka'

I don't remember much of the fight, being more concerned with keeping my
own skin intact and trying to destroy the Buma. At one point, Daley, the
suicidal redhead, drove one of the trucks into the Buma, trapping it
against a wall. After receiving a shot in the head <bloody thing is
armoured against our weaponary>, the Buma tossed the vehicle over to the
other side of the street, then left on its builtin jets to find more stuff
to destroy.

'dakishimetai Touch! Burning Touch!'

I lay in pain on the sidewalk, where it had thrown me, refusing even to
acknowledge my machine gun, and watched it depart. Slightly delirous, I
sat up and leaned against the wall, pain making my movements slow and
weak. The pain <I've said that>. My mind must be going. Dimly I heard a
strident voice commanding, 'Sanjo!'

<Go? Where to? I can't move anymore. My arm... Yes, its still there.
I'm so tired. pain... When does this shift end? Flowers.. so red..
 I'll just rest here a little...>
