Sorry, but Vampire Miyu (Manga) and Vampire Princess Miyu (Anime) cannot
be reconciled, they must be regarded as alternate universes, or perhaps
one can be considered a DIC'ed-up Dub of the other.
The reviews I've read of everything that has been done pretty much says
continuity is one of the biggest problems the person had with VPMiyu. I
find it sort of nice, I can pick and chose how I want to protray the
characters. The only other VPMiyu fanfic I have ever read had Miyu as a
cold, almost heartless monster, little better than the shinma she killed.
Ooops, I've read a spoof of Who Framed Roger Rabbit that uses Miyu, but
that's more of a spoof, and I hated the characterization of Larva (Big
Guy??? Ooof - yuck. Great story though. :).
I'm still torn as to which Miyu to recruit for Magical Girls Dream
Team. (Naturally, I'll choose whichever one will cause the most conflict
with the fifth and final girl (Either Miyu will, rightly, consider the
fifth girl to be a Shinma))
The manga Miyu is pretty much a normal girl, while the anime is more
inhuman in nature.
At the moment, I'm leaning towards using the Miyu who killed her mother,
as this fits in better with the somber tone of my Fanfic. (With a title
like "Magical Girls Dream Team", it must be somber, no? ;-)
That would be the manga one, but it is not entirely clear whether or not
her mother dies, though her mother's ghost coming back later on (at least
an apparition summoned by a shinma :) argues her mother being dead. The
anime clearly has her mother not dying, but being placed in suspended
animation until Miyu completes her task. Since Miyu normally doesn't kill
people by drinking their blood, so you can pick which ever you want. A
dark Miyu who killed her mother would end up being a mix of the manga and
the anime. ^_^
Oh, one minor correction - I had stated before that the translated manga
was by Dark Horse. That's incorrect. Its by Antartic Press. Sigh. The
comic books were laying right on my floor as I typed Dark Horse. ^ ^
My fifth girl is also split between Manga and Anime versions, but the
divisions are not as pronounced and can perhaps be papered over. (As
she's just a co-star who only shows up about half the time in her
series, the problem isn't as bad.)
Well, at least you're catching and dealing with these problems before you
start writing! :) Look forward to reading more of your fanfic. Ja!
