I is NOT that Disney didn't TRY! On JUly 24th, 1985, Disney release "The
Blak Cauldron". This movie had a a hard core "fantasy novel" plot. It
was really an adult movie. It feature zombies, death nights and really
frightining special effect that were state of the art at the time. This
movie scared children. Disney set itself up for disaster. The adults
just could grasp it and the kidies were just plain scared. The movie
bombed.

I can't really agree that The Black Cauldron bombed. I was seven
when I saw it and I was really impressed. Although, looking back I admit it
was
pretty .... yeeeeee.

I heard of it, but never seen it. Is it out on video?

It isn't out on video and I kinda doubt that it will be coming
anytime soon. However, if you really want to read about it, read the
"Chronicles of Prydain" by Lloyd Alexander.
It is a series of five books: "The Book of Three", "The Black
Cauldron", "The Castle of Llyr", "Taran Wanderer" and "The High King"
Disney screwed the plot of "The Black Cauldron" over royally in an
attempt to make it a kids movie. However, if you read this series, you will
realize that it _does_ make the disney version look like a kids movie
(there's no blood and guts, but it just gets _really_ deep in points).
The series is _excellent_ (a perfect 10 as far as I'm concerned!)
and I strongly recommend you look it up!
