Despite the expressed opinions of some readers, to let the two
become all-out lesbian lovers, I *hope* Ranko 1/2 is more subtle
than that. :)

Seriously, there are a lot of girls in Ranma & Akane's age, that
don't even know that something like homosexuality exists as an
option.  Many a lesbian spent her youth thinking there was
something wrong with her, for not being attracted to boys, just
because nobody had bothered to tell her, that girls can love
girls.  Boys learn about male homosexuality far earlier - but
normally in a negative sense, e.g. gay jokes.

Fanfic writers have to be careful to write the characters fitting
to their age bracket, and not possessing the mental maturity of
the author.
