I have no idea where this came from. One second I was typing funny stuff,
and the next....*WHAM*...I'm staring at the screen wondering what posessed
me to write something that downbeat in the middle of a comedy piece.

<In-joke alert> You know, there *is* help available for that, and therapy 
can really make a difference in your outlook on life. My mother's a 
therapist at a psychiatric hospital in Illinois, and I'm sure you'd find 
the trip worth the price. :)

  Suffice it to say that Silent Partner isn't set in the same "world" as
Nameless.

<Whew> Good. :)

  The funny thing is that I still needed a Ranma/Nabiki confrontation
scene in Nameless, and so I went back in and rewrote it..it's actually
funny now, but still recognizable as the same scene.

It wasn't so much the anger that was the problem, or the confrontation; 
it was the acid bitterness that hurt.

Aside from that... a very disturbing portrait. I'm not sure if it was 
meant to be. <wry look> Something seemed... off, somehow, in a way I 
couldn't pin down. A little too gritty, perhaps, in its take on the 
world; heroin seems completely out of place in the Ranmaverse.

It wasn't meant to be anything, at first...*grin*...after I realised what
I had written, I pegged it as disturbing.

Yah. I'll bet. <wry grin>
