And how would this preserve the relationships?  We all know
Sheridan & Delenn are fated together.  Anyhow you have to
change the characters a bit, and you can still have Akane
and Ranma relationship.  This time they are still bickering but
are forced to work together for a common goal.

I don't think that Sheridan and Delenn have bickered much at all.
And Ukyou doesn't really fit Ivanova.  It's really a question of
are you an *only* Ranma/Akane person, or someone who thinks other
pairings work in their universes?  Sheridan and Delenn acting 
like Ranma and Akane would take the crossover just a wee bit far 
from its source.
