Kamusta! :)

Here's part three of my sis' fanfic:

Three.

"You have information?" Hiei finally asked. They were strolling down the
wood beside Minamino Shuiichi’s home. The intense quiet made it seem like
the only safe place in the world. "You know how this youkai’s managed to
get this far?"
"I have a hunch we’ll find out everything about that sooner or later,"
Kurama answered. "Right now, I’m very much concerned with something else."
Hiei stopped walking. Kurama stopped immediately beside him. "It has,"
Hiei ventured, "something to do with me."
"Yes." Kurama was looking deep into his eyes. Only then did Hiei truly
notice how intense those green points of light were. He felt his soul
unfold beneath their steady stare.
"Don’t," he warned. Obliging, Kurama turned away.
"I want you to do something for me, Hiei. It might take much from you, but…"
"A mission?" Hiei frowned.
"A favor. Little more." Kurama smiled where Hiei could not see him. "But
knowing you, you won’t be able to refuse it."
"Because it involves a fight," Hiei finished.
No, Kurama thought grimly. Because I’m the one to ask it from you. "I want
you to stay out with me here, in the wood, tonight."
"Why?" He was almost dangerously suspicious.
"I think something is going to happen," Kurama only answered vaguely.
Hiei thought he understood. "So you feel it, too," he replied. "The darkness…"
Kurama nodded.
Hiei didn’t put up much of a fight. "Very well."
Kurama went home and asked leave of Shiori for the evening, at least. He
would be helping a classmate with some homework and sleeping over at his
house. Shiori asked for the phone number of that particular classmate, and
Kurama smoothly weaseled through; the classmate did not have a telephone.
Again, Shiori admitted defeat, and again it hurt for Kurama to deceive her
and watch her worry as if she knew what was going to happen – as if she
always knew.
That night, Hiei and Kurama slept on the forest floor, under the blazing
stars, waiting for an evil that will never come.

Hiei opened his eyes to see that he was in a different wood, in a different
world. It looked like nowhere he had ever been to, but all the same it was
familiar. Makai, was the first description that touched his mind.
Far out on the other side of the glade, Kurama still lay sleeping. That was
usually a good sign, which meant that there was no one else within a mile.
But it disturbed Hiei, as everything about Kurama disturbed Hiei at the moment.
Sensing that someone else was up on his feet, Kurama stirred in his sleep.
He groaned once, softly, then snapped awake, but rose slowly, devoid of all
alarm.
Hiei only needed to look into those emerald eyes again, to know what was
happening. "You – " he began. "You did this?"
Kurama did not answer. He looked around.
It was exactly as he had planned. He knew nothing of the surroundings.
Secret evils would also baffle him, perhaps even kill him – there, in the
battlefield in his mind.
Hiei had become impatient. "Where are we, Kurama?" he demanded, stepping
forward.
Kurama turned and silenced him. Presently he explained everything in detail.
"It’s a – little trick Kuwabara-kun taught me, in exchange for my lessons
in psychokinesis. This" – he swept his outstretched arm– "all this, is the
totality of my psychic powers."
Hiei was stunned. "We’re – in your head?"
"Where else?" Kurama smiled grimly. "There’s no better place for these tests."
"Tests," Hiei grunted, as he looked away. "I’m not even sure I understand
what you’re talking about."
"You will be sure," Kurama declared, and quite suddenly Hiei did not doubt
it. "Our object is to get out of this place…"
"That should be easy," Hiei said dryly. "You made this maze."
Through the darkness and the trees, Kurama with his fox-eyes could see a
faint light shining. He wasn’t sure if it was a way out, but it was a
beacon, and it was better than nothing. He decided to pay more attention to
that fact than to Hiei’s taunt. "Let’s go," he only said.
