Okay, people have talked about the "Anime Olympic" team, how about the
Anime Olympics themselves?

Sure, we can have some traditional Olympic events, but this is the
Anime Olympics!! Let's get creative!

I was planning to write a (sort of-)fanfic about this, a script of a
television broadcast, but between work and watching the real Olympics,
I know I'm never going to do it, so I'll post an outline to get things
started.

Opening Ceremonies: Host -- Mega-Tokyo. All the athletes march into
the stadium under flags representing their respective series. At the
pivotal moment, Master of Ceremonies Quincy lights the torch in an
unorthodox way: a surgical strike from an orbital defense weapon. The
commentator mentions that a mis-aim would have wiped out half the
audience, but no one seems to mind.

Events:

Cycling: Nuku-Nuku versus Shampoo. This event should be a real
catfight!

1500 meter run for cyborgs and androids: Gally edges out Nuku-Nuku and
the Hyper-Dolls

Olympic Space Battle: The shortest gold metal match in history pits
the SDF-1 versus the Yamato. Once the main gun and wave-motion cannon
have both been fired, the winner is determined by counting the metric
tons of debris remaining. Winner: the SDF-1 by 6 kg!

Cooking: Gold - Belldandy, Silver - Kasumi, Bronze - Ukyou. Our
favorite goddess wins while the RANMA team takes the other two medals.
The real drama takes place during the compulsories, when two judges are
life-flighted to a hospital to have their stomach pumped after sampling
Lum's and Akane's dishes.

Women's sorcery - Gold medal match pits Urd vs... Actually, I'm kinda
stumped here. Any help?

Women's dogfight - Idol Defense Force Hummingbird vs. TTS 801 Airbats.
Actually, I don't know enough about either of these series to know how
this one would turn out, but I figure the result would involve lots of
singing...

Men's freestyle martial arts, human class - 1992 champion Ranma Saotome
attempts to repeat, this time against teammate Ryouga Hibiki. (Won't
Akane be suspicious when she sees the medal around P-chan's neck?)

Men's freestyle martial arts, superhuman class - Son Gokou versus
Kagato. After last year's "boo-boo", the gold medal match has been
moved to an uninhabited island in the Pacific.

Women's unlimited combat, tag team - Team Tenchi, Ryoko, Aeka, and
Mihoshi, take on the Priestess of Mount Muldoon. Expect the Tenchi
girls to win, due partly to Mihoshi's ridiculous luck, but also because
Ryoko will fight dirty.

Conquest - Each team is given a small nation to conquer. First to
topple the government and assume power gets the gold. Expect veterans
such as Char Aznable to be challenged by newcomer Jinnai and his army
of bugs.

Girl Chasing - Possibly the most popular event. The kickoff to the
event is held in secret, and the event then lasts three days. The
contestant bringing back evidence of the most female encounters wins.
Ataru Moroboshi, with his time honored "hit on every girl in sight"
method, is favored to repeat, with strong challenges from CITY HUNTER's
Ryo Saeba and ANGEL's Keisuke. However, due to a rule change which
allows female undergarments to be accepted as evidence, expect a strong
showing from Happosai.

Any other events worth mentioning?
