	I'm going by the US cartoon loosely based on the video game, 
though I take liberties with the continuity here and there.  In the 
cartoon, ProtoMan is the flawed prototype robot created by Drs. Light and 
Wiley working together, so he's a "big brother" to the perfected Rock and 
Roll, who were entirely the work of Dr. Light, and thus consider 
themselves siblings.
	Dr. Light wanted to junk ProtoMan, but Dr. Wiley saved him as 
part of his plan to confiscate all of Light's work in order to conquer 
the world.  Thus, Proto is programmed to be (mostly) loyal to the villain.
