I've seen them doing it, but not that often.  It's not part of the
standard "Two cats meeting each other" ritual, nor is it linked
directly to their mating acts.

The way it was written, it just looked to me, as if Ranma was just
doing it, because she was available and he felt like it.  Any tom
who'd try that with a female cat would pretty soon limp away with
a bloody nose and more.  }:)
