very off topic. :)

Well, if not, there's always Anime-Maddness. That ships in November,
I believe. Magic like rules, I believe, but less series.
It's allready availble here in the states.

THE ALL IMPORTANT QUESTION: Does it have Ranma 1/2 in it?
P-word.

No. Fast explanation -

Pioneer = cha-ching $$$ + connections
Anime Maddness = small independent company just formed recently

So no Ranma in AM, though they still got a lot of good shows.
My basic breakdown is that Anti-Mayhem got some of the better shows,
and Anime Madness got the better playing system. I saw some of the
original cards they created for Anime Madness, and the Ranma cards were a
big part of it, so they really wanted to get it, but basically the guy who
is creating Anime Madness is like you or me, and has the same sort of
financial resources. So he has been working on his game for 3 years or
so, while I believe the Pioneer game was developed in less than a year.
Shrug - I haven't played the Ani-Mayhem system yet, but I have heard that
the rules synopsis in the most recent Scrybe was not very well done (which
is good, because it made the game sound like a boardgame that had simply
been cut up and pasted on playing cards).

Bottom Line - buy some of both games and try both. The art work for Anime
Madness is awesome, I got a chance to see some of the proofs (oh, did I
mention the creator of Anime Madness is a member of my anime club, NOVA?
And the person responsible for Ani-Mayhem is one of our members at large?
They've had a few, ah, interesting exchanges on the club mailing list
recently. ^ ^). To compare the artwork, the Ani-Mayhem pictures I have
seen squish the picture into the upper third of the card while Anime
Madness uses slightly over half for the art.

To tie this into fanfics, eheh, both card games present a possible tool
for fanfic writers - make up two decks with the key elements you want to
see in your fanfic and play a game or two. It may help generate some very
new notions on how things turn out, or help you if you get stumped with a
story and don't know where to go.
