But Sean (I hear you cry), I'm interested in reading a fanfic,
but don't have time to get the huge series that you've been
reviewing.  Couldn't you recommend some short fics that are 
just as good?

"Akane Por Siempre"
"Improbable Encounter"

both by Ricardo Martinez Garza


Two very different types of fanfics, but both very good at what
they do.

The first is a semi-horror story, with Akane turned into a 
vampire, and the quest to find a cure.  The scenes from Akane's
point of view are especially good, showing the intense hunger 
she suffers.  And, of course, the romance with Ranma really
comes to the fore here, with this incident letting them reveal 
their feelings as they never have before.  Excellent.

The second is a complete change of pace, a very low-key meeting
between Ranma and Keiichi at two important moments in their
lives.  They both are very much in character, with Ranma in denial
and mad at the world, and Keiichi melancholy and quiet.  Ranma 
gets a great deal from this, and both of them end up feeling...
God, this sounds bad.  The fanfic is so short that it's hard to
describe without writing it.  Just read it.

Both short, one-off fanfics, for the reader who doesn't have the
spare week to read all 28 stories of Classic UY...


Next:  Halloween 95 (NO, not the Power Rangers fic.  I have some scruples...)
