I agree with this sentement. However, punishing newcomers is not the solution.
They are not spammers since they haven't the chance to post spam. Innocent 
until proven guilty, y'know.

It's the oldies that generate the flaming spam that was seen in such threads as
"Shampoo must die" and "Ryouga is a dishonorable lout" The newbies don't 
participate much in Spam Wars I and II (I posted a few times to these threads,
but I was definitely a small fry). This waiting period punishes the wrong
troup.

The restriction also nails members that have to unsubsrcibe/resubscribe because
of forces beyond their control (graduation :), and they're treated like newbies
with the accompanying restriction.

Meanwhile, the real offenders go unpunished. If you wish to control spam, go
after the real spammers.

Ever since the Spam Wars died down, my mailbox has only exploded twice. The
first time was when it choked on BGZ #9. The second was just today when the
reposting of Bad Moon and Renegades. In other words, FANFICS!!!
