You seem to think that including a copyright disclaimer makes the
whole fanfic business legal.  It doesn't.  Even *with* such a
disclaimer, you are violating copyright laws and the owners of the
characters could legally sue the pants of you. :)

The only reason why that doesn't happen, is because these fanfics
don't hurt the profits. (Actually, they're kind of promotion
material, no?)  And the fact that they exist is kinda flattering
to the creators.

Copyright notices don't protect you from charges, they are just
courtesy and a way of paying respect to the creators of the fine
Manga and Anime that inspire us.
