Well, if you're one of those people who hate fawning reviews,
then this won't be for you. We'll just say I love it, and
you can move on.

But for those of you who are actually looking for fanfics with
the help of these reviews (a fact I find difficult to believe),
stay tuned, one of my pet favorites is here.

Oh My Devil-Hunter
by Mark Babcock

Believe it or not, I was wary of this fanfic at first. I knew
absolutely *nothing* about Devil Hunter Yokho (still don't
know a lot), and a City Hunter/AMG fanfic had been so confusing
that I was a little wary.

Future crossover writers should look at this one to see how it's
done. There was a minimal amount of backstory given, yet by
page seven, I knew everything I needed to know in order to get
into Yokho and Azusa's heads. I was tempted to go and find other
DHY fics after reading this, which should be a goal of the
crossover writer.

The plot is excellent, and you begin to realize how close the two
series' "universes" are. Both of them deal with villains from
beyond from time to time. The battle is serious enough to get
you attention, and I didn't skip the battle scenes! (I *always*
skip the battle scenes!)

The characterization is impeccable. Megumi gets a large role
in this one (another major reason I like it - I dig Megumi),
and Marller gets the shock of her life. Best of all, the
Belldandy/Keiichi romance is perfect for two years after the
series, comfortable and loving.

Yoshiko is the main original, and she is the perfect goddess
for these devil hunters. And Kami-sama...well, if you're going
to show God, that's the way to do it.

Yokho's sacrifice provides a nice moment of pathos, and I got
a lump in my throat as the situation seemed hopeless. But of
course, all ends happily.

The action in this makes it more in the tradition of the Yokho
series, but the sentimentality is definitely AMG.

Lesse...something to question. Um. Ah, it does seem weird that
Keiichi and Megumi become expert swordsman in a day, but at
least an attempt at explanation is given. Kendo can solve
everything!

I can't emphasize how much I love this fanfic. There are three
fabulous AMG fics, and by coincidence, they correspond to three
lengths:  short, Scenes from a Life; medium, No Mere Mortal;
and long, Oh My Devil Hunter. Funny, that.
