NAME: Richard Lawson. I'm named after my mother and my
great-grandmother (no joke, I'll tell you the story sometime if
you're interested.)
A. Age: Strike one! Six months ago, I ended my youth by turning 30.
Believe me, it was a traumatic occasion for me. :) This is ancient by
the ML standards, I know, I remember how old I thought 30 was when I was
in my early 20's.
B. Anime Favorites: Depends on what you call Anime. Japanese stuff:
Ranma 1/2, Oh My Goddess, Macross, You're Under Arrest. If you include
American stuff, then we add The Transformers and Robotech. In fact, I
was obsessed with Robotech for a while; I still buy all the books, even
the new, bad ones. Can't get enough. :)
C. Other Interests: Bridge is my passion; it's simply the best card
game ever invented. I'm quite good at it, too. I also love computer
stuff; much of my free time is spent hacking away. I read lots of
SF/Fantasy. Lately, fanfic writing has taken over my life; I forgot
how much I love to write. I have been working on a book on and off for
the past couple of years; after the enthusiastic responses I've gotten
on my fanfics, I'll maybe go back and put some more effort into it. I
also like to walk in parks and go to movies (alas, all by myself these
days).
D. Music: I have eclectic taste in music. From musicals to easy
listening to hard rock to soundtracks; if I like it, I listen to it. I
even have a Doco Second CD; my car passengers give my funny looks when I
explain that I don't speak Japanese. :)
E. Personality: This is tough. How do you describe your own
personality? I have a wry sense of humor. I love to tell anecdotes of
things that happened to me that I found interesting; sometimes it amuses
my audience, sometimes not. :) My biggest asset is my intelligence;
it's the one thing I'm almost arrogant about. I'm the smartest person I
know. :) I like to discuss things rationally and logically. I get
irritated at irrationality; it's one of my biggest faults. I am slow to
anger, and quick to smile. I love melodrama; Disney movies can bring
tears to my eyes. :) I also love romance. That's kinda why I'm
writing that "Inward Love" fanfic; I want to see Ranma and Akane be
romantic! I'm a good listener; I think I'm good at helping people with
their problems.
Dang, this is tough. Personality is made up of so many little things
that are unquantifiable, it's hard to put into words and make coherent.
The best way, of course, is just to find out face to face.
F. Height (optional): 5'9". At least I'm taller than my dad.
G. Weight (optional): In high school it was 185; now it fluctuates.
It's currently at 200, but I'm working on it.
H. Overall Appearence (i.e. hair color, eyes, race, whatever): I am
half English, half Native American. I have very "white" features, but
my hair is dark brown, my eyes are dark brown (my best feature, IMHO),
and my skin has a permanent tan. I wear glasses. I keep my hair short
because it tends to do unpredictable things when it gets long, and I
don't have the patience for styling mousse.
I. Education (how much and where)?: Er, well, a little story here.
After high school, I was accepted at Dartmouth, MIT, and Caltech. I
chose Caltech, where I attended for a year and a half before dropping
out for no good reason. (Strike two!). Actually, the "reason" was so I
could move to Boston and live with a woman. We were together for five
years; years of my life wasted. Ah, to live my life over; to take the
experience I have at 30 and apply it to myself at 18. To quote George
Bernard Shaw: "Youth is wasted on the young." :)
I have a good job, and it allows for tuition reimbursement. After I get
settled, I plan to take advantage of it and finish my degree.

You're outta there!) In fact, it's been a while since I cleared my

my taste in Anime, you'll see I tend towards the cute ones. OMG in
particular is very cute, in the way it's drawn and the plots and
characterization. Really, I like cute. :)

it a month ago. I was planning on enhancing it considerably, when this
fanfic writing thing kicked in, and I haven't had much creative energy

Plymouth Sundace. I inherited my mother's view on cars: a good car is
a vehicle that gets you from point A to point B with minimal amount of
difficulty. :) I love to drive, and the car has been driven a lot - my
previous job had me making visits to sites all over the state of
Minnesota.

IMHO), The Right Side of the Ledger, and my current Thy Inward Love
series, currently up to part 7. All Ranma 1/2 'fics that have been well

S. Job?: I work at Informix Software, Inc. Informix makes mainframe
databases; they're the second largest manufacturer in the world, with
offices around the globe. One of my duties working third shift is to
support our offices in Dublin, Singapore, China, and Japan. My boss
tells me that, in a couple of years (or sooner), I could be travelling
to some of these offices. Yipee!
