This is the One I would chose...  But I believe that he would have to confront
Akane after the fact and let her know why he did it.  He has to stop the lies
somewhere.  

But this could also be bad.  Because Ranma is changing the past to suit his
needs.

Yes, but its not just his needs, its to prevent Akane from getting hurt 
as well.
