1. Greater redundancy. With a hypothetical 6 groups, 1 moderator apiece,
a vactaioning moderator stops postings to one group. With 1 group, and 6
moderators, there are still 5 moderators to pick up the slack.
That would work, only that I think multiple moderators to one group would not
be possible (at least I don't think so...).
2. It would be hard to get series specific groups though the newgroup
procedure, since people will point out (rightly) that series will fade
(Dirty Pair fanfic, for example, isn't nearly as popular as it was). This
isn't so bad if people are conscientious (sp) about rmgrouping the old and
hardly used.
I was also thinking about proposing one extra group:
rec.arts.anime.creative.misc. All other series not mentioned in
series-specific groups would go here, and maybe after time, another proposal
will be introduced for that series.
3. Things will still be crossposted. E.g. Twisted Path would need to be
x-posted between .creative.ranma and .creative.bgc and
.creative.author-include (if all three such groups existed). Not such a
bad thing, but still.
IMO, there really aren't that many fanfics that contain crossovers, so there
really isn't that much to worry about. I was always OK with crossposting; I
never really saw the problem with it during the time of RAA's RFD.
