In the 20th isue of Pyramid magazeen, thair is an artical all Ranma 1/2
fans and GURPS players should know about. Writen by Robert M. Schroeck, it
focuses on the martial art style "Musabetsu Kakuto", A.K.A. Anything Goes
Martial Arts. Its on pagees 60-65, and the artical tital is "Breaking
Bricks... And Telephone Poles, Boulders And The Reality Barrier...". Since I
have the mag in frount of me, lets cretique it.
I notice a few things. 1) Ranma's name only comes up once, as the quote
which starts the articaal (the verry line he uses to introduce himself to
Kuno, in fact). Beyond that, Mouko Takabisha and Shishi Houkoudan are mentiond
once. 2) It only gives a gideline, as it assumes that eveyone in Ranma 1/2
uses this style, from Kuno to Azuza. This is verry wrong, but you CAN use the
"notes on special abilities" for special attacks for other styles. 3) You must
have the origanal GURPS game, PLUS GURPS Martial Arts, AND GURPS Supers in
order to use the style. 4) The style costs a base of 65 points, and you MUST
buy Trained By A Master. 5) It can only be used with the Chambara rules (makes
sence to me). 6) Sorie guys, no charater states.
Well, its a good artical. Nothing to special. It is verry much surgested
that the rules be used in a lightharted campain (like, say, GURPS IOU), but
you CAN use it in a GURPS Supers campain, ect. Basicly, it is an excuse to
have rules for a super level martial artest, compleet with Ki Blasts.
I give it a thums up (ethen thoe I do not play GURPS much).
