As long as we're talking about *writing* here (ahem), I've always found 
that it seems at least as real if you do it yourself.  You know the old 
rule:  If you *really* want something done, forbid your kids to do it.

My house is made out of balsa wood, so when I want to scare the
neighborhood kids I lift it over my head and tell them to get out of my
yard or I'll throw it at them.
