Your Mother Was a Hamster! Part Two By Martha McMahon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<If I'd come two days ago I'd be fine. If I'd picked the pool on
the left...> "Ruff. Growl." I complained.
"You want hot water, yes?" He motioned for me to follow.
I followed the guide as my mind frolicked through my many
questions.. Why am I here? Do I know Chinese or Japanese? Why
didn't I turn into a dog-lemming? _Can_ I change back? Oh boy, I
gotta find a tree... After all panic does that to you.
I managed to find non-cursed tree, and then trotted over to the
fire.
<Turn me back already!> "Woof!"
"I not know what happen now. I never seen one jump into second
pool. May be very bad." With that cheery warning he proceeded to dump
near-boiling water over my head.
"Chitter!" I chittered and bounded happily towards the springs.
"No jump!" The guide yelped and doused me again. _Right_ before
I jumped into the pool.
<Sploosh.> (It was a shallow pool.)
I am _not_ turning into a lemming _ever_ again... <Hey, this is
HOT!> "Browf?!" <Not _again_!> "Rowf."
The guide looked at me. Looked at the tea kettle. And then
looked back at me. He sighed.
"Why you jump in pool again?" He asked resigned to baby-sitting
the stupid flying tourist. "You no want to do that. Now you fall in
Spring of Drowned Bear."
<But this is Hot!> "Growf!"
"The only Cursed Hot Spring and you fall in." He put down the
kettle and took out a canteen. "I think you do this on purpose."
"Rowf!" I objected.
"You promise no jump in any more springs?" He asked, canteen in
hand.
"Growf." I nodded.
The guide sighed and doused me with the cold water. "sdf ewrjsi
adq?"
He made absolutely no sense. Then again I don't know Japanese.
Great, I have to be a Japanese animal to understand Japanese. That
makes _perfect_ sense. The guide said a few more syllables and then
threw up his hands and doused me with hot water. Back to the Bear
Necessities...
"Bowf." I thanked him.
"Someone come train here soon. I guide. You stay here?" He asked,
glancing off towards the training ground entrance.
"Gruff." I nodded. Where else was I going? The only people I knew
in this anime lived in Japan. I was in China. I thought. Pretty sure.
'Course if I waited long enough Ryoga would show up by default...
"Good." The guide noted, and went off to great the new arrivals.
<Ranma?!> "ROWF!" I rowfed. No one noticed me. I wasn't a very
big bear. (bigger than a breadbox... ;] )
I watched as Ranma and Genma went through the whole 'Ack! I'm a
Panda!' 'Ack! I'm a girl' sequence. I bristled a little at the second.
"Growf. Bruff. Rowl." I muttered. Wonder if I can follow them home...
after all Genma's a bear too. Well, a panda at any rate. I shook my
head. They aren't just going to let a bear follow them home... hmmm,
maybe if I was a dog. But I would have to be a lemming first... I
shuddered, I _already_ have enough curses for three people.
Genma the Panda, and Ranma the Girl were headed this way... I
quickly hid in the bushes... taking the canteen with me. This would
take some planning...
(to be continued?)
