Alright...

Since everyone and his dog are making comments.. I figure it'd put in
my opinion.. (and I tend to make comments where I see my name mentioned..
even if it's just in passing..)

OK - I dunno exactly how this began... so I'm gonna just state what I
think about it...

Firstly, from talking to Jack I'm of the opinion he's writing this for
*himself* first and everyone else second (which is probably the best way
to write..) - He's also setting things up for happenings in future
stories.. so maybe you can question his reasons for doing this.. rather
than crapping on about how he's made his character's too powerful??

Now - putting aside Jack and his Fic.. no one can deny the popularity
of this kind of FanFic - cause everyone would like to see themselves as
the star of an anime, and seeing other people's dreams is always
enjoyable.. As for the character that's put into the Fic, well from my
point of view the character in the story may have begun as the 'author' -
but from the first line of the fic, that changes - it's no longer the
author, it's now a character you're looking at - and that's distinctly
different....

Other people writing these kinda Fics have gone overboard with powers
(well.. that's just my opinion) - and *I* believe that in the long run it
makes the character a little to 'unreal' in the long run.. but the point
is I usually tell people privately my opinions of their fics - since I'm
not one to be critical of others in public (since I'd rather discuss
things than argue and exchange insults....)

Nuff about that... if anyone want's to argue this further I'd suggest
taking it to a private place (anyone wanting to make comments to me.. do
so privately...) - I think I'll see if I can't see if I've got a Fic I
can post....

Spock: Sir, what these people are saying is logical; If we use up a
finite resource, logic dictates that eventually all
resources will be exhausted and the resulting calamity
       will expunge all life forms...
Kirk: Meaning???
Spock: We're rooted....
