What's happening is:

1)  Someone puts up a riddle we've all heard before.

Really?  

2)  Twenty people answer it.

No.  5 people might attempt to answer it on the ML, another 10 at the 
most send the poster private attempts.

3)  One of those twenty people posts an old riddle they've heard.

Usually one of those who have posted before.

4)  Go to 2)

These posts contribute nothing to the ML, and are annoying to boot.

Its called spam mate.  Less posts generated from that subject 
over the last 2 weeks than the last spam war generated over 2 
days.  Annoying to some I'll grant, but contribute 'nothing' ?

I don't want to sound like an old sourpuss (obligatory Robotech 
allusion), but could we stop doing this?  Please?

Haven't seen that bit of Robotech, but your wish is granted.
