Dunno about the exact status for 'em though. 

As to why Ranma, probably because it's one of the most popular(and easier to
write) anime/mangas made.  There are a few other series that I'd love to
write something for, but are MUCH more dificult to write.  For example, VPM
and Silent Mobius.
