Did you catch the fanfic posted on the CLAMP mailing list?  It was called
Tokyo Babylon: Song - very, very good.  The author had 3 different
endings, and I agreed with him, they were all so good I couldn't choose
(well, actually, it was sort of like saying it was the best of times, it
was the worst of times, or salt in the eye no matter which you picked :).
