around (heck, it could even be remotely on topic)....

That was a passage from _The Hot Zone_, wasn't it? I thought
the writing style in that book got pretty overwrought at times. Certainly
switching to the second person like that in the passage was unnecessary.
I prefer _The Coming Plague_'s discussion of Ebola myself.
