Sticky left Eustachian tube from a grade school infection makes
swimming unattractive and scuba right out---I can't adjust quickly
enough. RSI from too much typing over the last couple of decades
(FOLKS, DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! (SERIOUSLY)) makes many
such interests somewhat impratical, and I hope you like housework :-)

Actually, tolerance is crucial in a relationship, and a 100% match of
interests is, well, unrealistic not to mention boring.

What about Misa, Akane, Kasumi, U-chan, Madoka, Belldandy, Miki,
Hikaru, Karin, Momo-p, ... :-)
Seriously, a former girlfriend of mine (not realizing she was also
categorizing herself) said that I was "going through the world kook by
kook"; the unreachable ideal of "anime babes" is a good way to avoid
falling for a wrong someone....

The fact that that doesn't go without saying says an aweful lot about
American society, all of it bad.
(This is not to say American men used to all be gentlemen, but that
was the ideal, and being a jerk was nothing to be proud about.)

Deoderant? Bleah! Proper nutrition, daily showers, clean clothes,
and not letting the wrong bacteria colonize your skin do the trick for
me. What was the comment from "The Joy of Ahem" about a snootful of
aluminum chloride?

Here we really part company. If you're serious (i.e. marriage,
family, children), the contract metaphor is right out, since there's
one or more parties that don't have a chance to agree to the terms
until everyone's committed. Something like a covenant, which cannot
be revoked, is much more appropriate, but I've at least for now given
up on the concept of finding a loyal American woman....
(Kawaiiso and not losing any sleep over it....)
Seriously: I've been there, and hope things turn for the better soon.
You've got plenty of time to find "the right one", and don't seem to
be unreasonably picky. BTW, before this thread started, I forwarded
your Sutton Hoo? URL to a friend who's interested in that sort of
