- was Shampoo shown displaying the silly fits of strength Akane
  exhibits (kicking people into LEO ad such) in the manga?

- Would Cologne advise her great-granddaughter to go and fight
  near the canal? If I remember well, it's not deep enough to
  bother Akane. (If that's the place where Ranma lands after
  Akane confessed she let go of Tofu, the water is waist-deep)
  O-baba would not allow that, because Akane has used water
  against Shampoo in the past.
  Even though you did not have Akane use it (fright, maybe ?)
  o-baba would have thought of it and placed the ambush elsewhere.
