I won't say "a good idea" but rather possibly a less taxing one which may 
allow you to feel less surrounded and influenced by your writing rather 
than letting the writing style influence you and the story. I think that 
whether things happen to make the story (any story) lemon or not then 
they happen.....if it feels right for plot and character development 
rather than changing it to suit an audience....
