===========REMY===========
Luna paced impatiently on Serena's bed, she looked at the clock on the dresser
"Where is that girl! I am tired of waiting for her!".
Just then the door opened and before Luna could say anything, Serena threw
herself on the bed and started crying.
--"What's the matter Serena?"
--"Oh Luna, Darien hates me! He hates me and there's nothing I can do about it.
And it's all that guy's fault! Just you wait until I see him again, I am
going to kick his butt!"
Luna shook her head and said with a dreary voice "Oh, is that all? Come on
Serena, stop thinking about guys and concentrate on the more important things...
. Right now we are so late for the scout meeting, Rei has been feeling really s
trange vibes, we think it's got something to do with that weird light that appea
red in the sky last night."
--"How can you be so insensitive? Here I am dying, my life falling apart right
before my eyes and all you can think about is a dumb light in the sky!....
Waaaaaaaaaahhhhaaaaahaaa!!!!"
--"Oh dear... look Serena, how about you tell me what happened on the way to
the temple, OK? Now compose yourself and let's go....."

As Luna and Serena waited for the bus, they stared down the street, heat waves r
ose from the ground creating an atmosphere of desolation. Luna climbed slowly o
ff Serena's shoulder, they were the only ones waiting at the bus stop, the only
ones out in the street for that matter....It was safe to talk.
--"It's unusually hot for this time of year, don't you think Serena?"
Serena stared down the street dreamily, she hadn't heard Luna speaking to her.
--"Serena are you listening?.... Serena!!!"
--"Huh? Oh, were you talking to me?"
--"What is the matter with you anyway? you burst into your room crying and bla
bbering incoherently and now you're not even paying attention, it can't be Ree
ny again, she has gone with her friend Alex to Crystal Lake...."
--"No it's not the little fungus, I told you it's that guy's fault! He made Da
rien get mad at me again!"
--"What guy? what are you talking about?"
--"OK Luna, you told me we'd talk about it, so listen and tell me what you thi
nk I should do.... I was walking home from school, so I stopped at a street
light and I was tired so I streched out like this....." She streched in the s
ame manner as when she had the accident with the guy. "And then I smacked th
is guy on the face with my books...." Her eyes popped out and she yelled at t
he top of her lungs " AAAAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!! My books! I left my books beh
ind!" She got up and started running.
--"Wait Serena, the bus is coming!.... Oh it's no use, I'll just have to deal
with her later, right now the most importamt thing is the meeting..." She felt
the cool air blow past her as the bus opened it's door to let some people out. T
he door shut after the last passenger exited and the bus slowly pulled away. Lun
a looked up at the scorching sun. She scuffed at the thought of the long walk a
head of her towards Rei's temple. "Serena is going to be sorry she made me walk!
"
Serena arrived at the spot where she had dropped her books. She leaned over and
placed her hands on her thighs and gasped for air. She looked around for a cou
ple of seconds, when she was certain that her books were gone she started whimpe
ring until she finally collapsed on the hot sidewalk.
--"What am I going to do now? I have class tomorrow and it's too late to go to
Molly's house to copy the assignments.... Why that little thief! he must have
taken them... I ought to kill him!!!" she started wailing loudly and the pass
ers by stared at her in confusion.
She got up and started walking towards the temple, then she realized that if she
went to the meeting, the girls would pick on her for losing her books, she real
ly didn't feel like being made fun of, so she went home instead.

Rei sat in
front of the fire, meditating, she could not get a precise reading on that stran
ge light that had appeared in the sky the previous night. The flames danced wild
ly, and created amber-colored shapes in her dark eyes. The rest of the scouts,
Luna and Artemis stared at her in awe... No matter how often they saw her consul
t the fire, they would always be amazed by the way she transformed... It was as
if the spirit of the fire entered her body and made light emanate from her whole
being.
--"You guys..." She said after a while, "I don't think I'll be able to get any
readings tonight, I keep getting this nonsense about stealing from the fair."
--"I am not sure it's even got anything to do with the light....", said Mina.
--"What do you think that means, Luna?", asked Lita.
--"So far we haven't got any idea of what's going on. I say we wait and see wh
at happens, and maybe then we will be able to get a good reading on this myste
rious light. We can't afford to assume that it is harmless either", answered L
una.
--"Luna's right" interjected Artemis, "So keep your eyes open, and the first t
hing you notice, be ready to act quickly..."
--"What are we going to do with Serena?" asked Amy, "This is the second time s
he misses a meeting this week. She won't be ready unless she knows what's goi
ng on."
--"Leave her to me" answered Rei with a devilish gleam in her eyes, "Five minu
tes with me and she'll never be late to anything for the rest of her life."
--"Now Rei, be patient. You know Serena, she'll never change, even if you beat
her silly!", laughed Lita.....
--"Look Lita, we can't afford to wait until Serena decides to act responsibly..
She could make or break our chances in a fight. I hate to admit it but with
out her we are all toast! So all I know is that we better start teaching her r
ight, for our own good...."
--"Wow Rei, I've never heard you speak that way about Serena.... But you're ri
ght, I'll talk to her tomorrow at school and see if I get her to think sensibl
y." said Amy.
They hung around planning what kind of strategy they would use to get Serena on
the right track. After a couple of hours they all decided to leave. The evenin
g air was musky and humid... A very odd climate for the beginning of spring. Th
e purple and blue sky began to show its first stars as the scouts made their way
home.

That evening Darien had a hard time falling asleep, he couldn't shake the image
of Serena with the other guy. Even as he slept, he saw Serena laughing cruelly
at him, the star locket falling and shattering at her feet... The pieces of glas
s glistened like diamonds through the air...... Darien squirmed in bed as the d
ream continued. "What a fool you are Darien" said Serena, then from behind her
appeared the guy, he took Serena's hand in his and pulled her away from Darien.
--"Noooooooo!!!!!!" Darien had awakened at the image of his beloved being taken
from him... Sweat glistened on his forehead and ran down his back... The only li
ght in the room came from the balcony window. He sat at the edge of his bed in
the pale blue light of the moon. The images from his nightmare playing in his h
ead.
He made his way to the window and out onto the balcony, he stared at the lights
of the city for a while trying to sober up from sleep. "Serena" he said under h
is breath. Then he remembered the dreams about Crystal Tokyo and swallowed hard
..... "Maybe it's better this way..."

The next morning Serena is running to school, as usual; except this time she isn
't worried because she's late, she's worried because she hasn't got her books wi
th her. Oh man! Ms. Haruna would have her head for this....
--"Serena!!" called an unfamiliar voice. She stopped and looked across the stre
et. It was the guy from the day before, the one who had 'stolen' her books. Sh
e found herself so surprised, that she couldn't even speak. The guy crosses the
street and
hands her the books.
--"The least you could do is say thanks! Say, are you always this late or is it
just today? I've been waiting for hours...." The guy said in a friendly voice
.
--"Huh? Oh yeah....thanks. It was very nice of you to bring my books....How'd
you know my name?" she asked puzzled
--"Oh, well, the guy on the motorcycle called you Serena."
--"Oh yeah, Darien....." her eyes glisten, but she recovers quickly "But how
did you know which school I go to?"
--"Ha! ha! ha! that was easy, you see... you smacked me right over there...."
he said pointing at a traffic light two blocks down the street.
They both stare in that direction for a few seconds then break into laughter.
Serena couldn't believe her luck... But she was still late to class.... Oh well,
it was nothing she couldn't handle. She couldn't get over the fact that he had
brought back her books.
--"By the way, aren't YOU going to be late?", she asked.
--"Oh not at all, my first class doesn't start until ten, I've got plenty of t
ime.....but you....."
--"Oh bah! Today I'm early.....Oh! what a dope I am.....I don't even know your
name...."
--"My name is Remy." He extended his hand.
--"Well Remy, you just saved my life! I have to find a way to thank you..."
They shake hands and their eyes meet for a second....
--"Well, I might take you up on it one of these days!" Serena blushed and slid h
er hand away from his. "OK Serena, you'd better go inside now, I just wanted to
return your books and make sure you were fine.....see you around!"
He crossed the street and climbed into his car. He turned and waved to Serena as
he pulled away. Serena waited until he disappeared in the distance.....
"This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship..." She said to herself
as she walked inside the building.....
