Not sure how well this would work. 'Zoner seems to be really protective
of his job as moderator. During the time his job was dumping on him, I
asked him if he needed/wanted any help with the jod. He completely
ignored my question.
I rest my case....
[ Same point also made by Bad Mr. Frosty bmfrosty@cris.com, and

jest or not, they're pretty telling. ]
Seriously, that's my point; he's now grossly overloaded, but is not
willing to relinquish any control to improve the responsiveness of the
newsgroup. Given the explicit and crystal clear rules for story
submission he's produced, this is particularly curious (I can
understand him retaining control over the master archive, though, but
that can be dealt with through a "new" directory).
And this is bad, because:

I don't either, but I think the health of the fanfic community
(outside of this list, especially) is suffering due to the lags this
produces. Not to mention the challenge of reading or storing a
mountain of 50-100 stories before they expire, as someone else has
pointed out.

Didn't someone recently post here something about when they tried
to get their provider to add RAAC they were told "no" because they
already had RAAS?
One of the unexpected consequences of the re-orig is that in the
current crowded newgroup environment, lots of system maintainers are
getting choosy about adding new groups (or merely exhausted)....
Thousands of people have aparently been cut off from the main anime
group when raa died on May 20, and I'm sure the same is true for the
raas to raac switch; we should have taken a cue from Kuno, who has at
one time or another (at least ina fanfic) no doubt has quoted William
Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet):
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
