Hi, there. It's a bit long in coming and it's a bit long, period, so
this episode (#14) is in two parts. Hope you enjoy it. I'm trying to get
to do more fanfic writing these days. I've been lagging a bit. Anyway,
the epsiode after this should prove worthwhile, too... Amy finally finds
out that her tentative love interest, Chris, is actually the evil
mastermind and her arch-enemy, Frost. And if he isn't her arch-enemy
yet... he is now.

This and, as usual, much more. Lita's on the rebound - Mina and Alex are
dating, and for them, ignorance is bliss - Darien should recover from
injuries in this episode soon. No problem. Andrew's fiancee, Rita
(Reika), is back from Africa for a while - but that's another episode,
probably #16.

I mailed my older fanfics to White Wolf earlier. If they're not in the
remailer, and in proper order, tell him. Otherwise, if you want all my
episodes, I can oblige. They're going up on web pages, now, so you
should see them around. If anyone can tell me where to get in touch with
"Luna and Artemis" running that Prodigy SM fanfic page, let me know -
they have only the first 7 of my 14 episodes.

"And One for All"

The mystic circle burned bright with heated flame. Bishoujo Mask was
sweating, hard, under the strain of the summoning. Every effort she made
seemed to be under incredible stress. Her breathing was labored, and her
eyes focused.

Her blood froze when she heard a deafening howl from beyond the
flames... Only then did she realize that this was the first time she had
actually summonned a full demon. Great timing, Bishoujo, she thought.
Now you figure that out. She had to finish this, though. There was
simply no alternative. She was simply stunned at the power of the act...

The circle was intentionally made large. It was really nothing more than
a carefully drawn circle of rare pigments, and Bishoujo Mask was not in
any sort of danger. The portal simply needed to be large enough. A shape
began to form within the flames, the shape of the monster she had
summoned.

---

Alex's ring was pulsating madly, having absorbed Rei's energy. The ring,
forged of heavy gold, glowed with an eerie light. Something was very
wrong here...

---

Zeus found himself lying in a room by himself. At a glance he knew it
was an improvised medical chamber. He'd helped build it himself. He
found himself awake now, after a long sleep. What awoke him was a
strange sense, a sense of great power in the air...

---

The moon was midway to its zenith, and was in its full glory.

---

Alex was in great pain now. He was clutching his wrist, and had no idea
what was going on. Then everything turned white...

---

Serenity was surprised to see Zeus not only up and about, but
struggling, staggering, through the doorway to the medical chamber. He
said to her, "Prometheus is in trouble."

---

The pain in Alex's hand subsided. He asked himself, "What was that?" The
ring's symbol was still vaguely glowing.

He was still under cover. The appropriate thing to do was to bring Rei
back to the Temple. He lifted her over his shoulder, her long dress
dangling in front of him, and he began to carry her off.

---

The creature emerged from the flames...

Before Bishoujo was a powerful monster. It was some sort of werewolf,
and Bishoujo Mask could sense it was female, although a powerful and
highly aggressive one. The creature was taller than her, covered with
red fur, very muscled, fairly flat-chested. The creature had crimson
eyes that glowed fiercely in the firelight. The werewolf kneeled before
her, acknowledging her master.

Bishoujo skipped the pleasantries. "Your mission is to gather the souls
of humans so that I can use them with the Dark Crystal." The werewolf
responded in a shallow growl, "As you wish." Bishoujo didn't want to
mess around with the creature very much. She wasn't in the mood. She
said passively, "Once you're done, have fun. But if you meet a tall guy
in black throwing roses, don't finish him off." The werewolf asked, "Why
is that?" Bishoujo Mask answered, "If anyone finishes him off, it will
be my priviledge, not yours," she said with a scowl.

The werewolf said, "As you command."

Chad's expression was one of great shock when he saw Alex coming to the
front of the temple. Alex said to him, "She had a vision, and
collapsed!" Chad said, "Quick! Bring her inside!"

---

Rei was unconcious as she lay on a futon, with Serena and Amy beside
her, very worried, as Chad put a cold cloth on her forehead to try to
make her feel better, for all it was worth.

Mina was outside, talking to Alex. The wind was becoming cold as the
full moon rose. Her wind was flowing in the breeze. She was very
worried.

She tried to get some more information from Alex. She asked, "So you met
Rei?" Alex said, "Yeah. We were walking back here when she had some sort
of vision." Then, he looked to the side, and said, "I guess it was too
much for her for some reason." Mina said, "Maybe there's trouble coming.
You should go home. I have to stay here with my friend." Alex said, "I
understand."

Mina pressed further, "Rei was out before, earlier today. Then she came
back, helped take care of Lita. Did you hear what happened?" Alex
nodded. Mina asked, "Then she went out again. What's up with her?"

Alex told Mina about Rei, and about how she was crying, probably for a
long time, and that she blamed herself for what happened. Mina gasped
when she heard that. She said, "I had no idea."

Alex said, "I think she'll get over it. How's this Lita girl?" Mina
said, "She's not going to win the marathon, but she's up and around.
Look," she said, turning her head, "there she is." Lita, in a temple
robe, was going to see Rei, and seemed hurt and saddened by this.

Alex said, "I should go..." Mina said, "Okay. But once everyone's
better, let's go out sometimes." Alex nodded, and said, "Sure. It's
about time." Mina said bye, and Alex left.

Mina thought that she should be going inside, and it was getting chilly
with a stronger wind. She just stared longlingly after Alex as he walked
away...

---

It was a beautiful night. A cute young couple were walking by some
shops, commenting about the cold, which was starting to get
uncomfortable, although it wasn't so bad. It wasn't warm, though, and a
girl in a short skirt would have quite a chill, as the girl of the
couple was shivering.

A woman walked not far behind them. She was in an ordinary-looking suit
with a red slip and black shoes. She had long black hair. Looking
closer, her brown eyes suddenly glowed red...

She continued to follow the couple as they turned into an alley, taking
a shortcut home.

Not far away, Darien walked out of a local shop, and sensed a strange
presence nearby...

Hikawa Shrine

Now that things were calming down, the Sailor Senshi were having a
meeting, minus Rei, where Rei would normally be doing her fire readings.
Even Jupiter was here. She was closing the room off, so that no one
would overhear their conversation. This was mainly because Luna and
Artemis were also here, and were obviously here with something to say.

It went unsaid that everyone was worried. Whatever had happened to Rei,
it wasn't good, and it was more than likely connected with the Dark
Senshi. The problem was that Rei was a valuable source of information at
times like this.

Luna said, "Rei must have sensed a powerful monster. But why would she
collapse?" Artemis asked, "Maybe it's worse than we thought?"

Mina pitched in, saying, "If something's wrong, then it's probably a
youma attack, and we need to respond." Mina had a talent for stating the
obvious. Serena, though, wasn't convinced, "But, like, Mina, how?
Without Rei, how are we going to find... whatever it is?" She was very
puzzled. Mina said, "Amy can help, right, Amy?" Amy looked down, for a
brief moment, and didn't look very confident. She looked back at Mina,
and said, "Maybe. I can try to track whatever this is down, but I may
not have much luck."

Lita said, "You three go ahead. I'm going to stay back and try to do a
fire reading like Rei taught me." The others gasped. Serena blurted,
"You can't be serious!" Amy said, "It's way too dangerous. We can't let
you do this!" Artemis added, "You're too weak to do it." Lita disagreed
strongly with that. She answered, in a defiant, almost angry, tone of
voice, "I'm not strong enough to fight, but I sure am strong enough to
do a fire reading. That's the mind, not the body."

Serena pleaded, in a soft voice, trying to reach out to her fried,
"Please... don't do this."

Lita's expression melted from anger into understanding. But she had to
do this... "Serena, you guys might need more than Amy's computer this
time. I"ll keep in touch with my communicator and try to guide you to
your enemy. It's the best I can do."

Her friends saw the sheer determination behind the gentleness and
kindness of her friendly face. It was then that they knew that she was
right.

Mina said, "Alright, let's get going. We have a lot of ground to cover
and the enemy's one step ahead of us. We have to find them before they
hurt more innocent people."

Luna said, "I'll stay behind. Artemis, go on ahead with Mina."

Amy said, "Wait. Something else..." Everyone turned their heads towards
Amy. She got up and walked over to get her napsack, and dug in it. While
she was busy with her hands, she said, "I have something that will be
more useful for you two." After a few moments of not understanding, Luna
said, "Us?" meaning herself and Artemis, who were the two most
identifiable "couple" here and were the topic of conversation at the
moment. Amy nodded, while she was still kneeling with her back to them.
She turned around, holding two collars in her hands.

Artemis asked, "Now, what is this all about..." in a rather displeased,
even concerned, tone of voice. Amy just giggled, and said, "These are
your new communicators." Everyone else lit up. Lita said, "That'll be
great!" Mina said, "Now, if they're in trouble, or find trouble, they
can call us right away!" Serena said, "Beats bailing them out of trouble
all the time." Luna sneered, "I can't remember the number of times I
bailed you out, Serena." Serena just stuck out her tongue. Mina laughed,
and told Luna, "I know she's just joking. I don't know what I'd have
done without Artemis when I was Sailor V, and even now. But the collars
are a great idea."

Lita said, "Alright, you'd better get going."

Another victim. Another scream.

The werewolf was a fine stalker of prey. It had already drained the life
forces of eight humans, and this was the ninth. At this rate it would
become unstoppable, taking only a fraction of the power of these souls
for itself. She released this latest prey, a young man who had simply
been no match for her size and strengh. She tossed him aside, and he
bounced upon the ground, the pressure opening his eyes to reveal a pale
blue glow. He was now an empty shell, easily manipulated and controlled
- simply not by her. She could not control him, for the simple reason
that he was still alive.

She resisted the urge to howl, as that would spread fear among the
populace, too soon, and would drive them away. She wanted to play on
their sense of trust, not fear. It was time for her to transform. Her
skin folded, her fur vanished, and she reverted to the form of a
long-legged, long-haired red-head, not dressed aggressively enough to
draw undue attention, certainly not dressed repulsively, though, so she
would be just properly outfitted to pass as a normal, though beautiful,
young woman. It amazed her how easily these humans fell for such
deceptions. She tossed back her hair with a flick of her wrist, and
walked away, leaving the soulless body that she had ravaged behind,
twitching.

---

Tuxedo Mask knelt down near another of the victims, one of a couple, a
boy and a girl. His cape fell behind him, touching the ground, folding
under its great lengh. He studied the boy closely. His eyes were
completely blank, softly glowing, eerily in the moonlight, since it was
the darkness of the body, not the eyes, that provided contrast against
the ambient light.

Tux thought to himself, "Not good." A predator was out here. He would
have liked to contact the Sailor Senshi, but that wasn't... how it was
done. They'd find him, maybe, if he was with this creature. He had to
track it down, first, and hold it off, at least long enough for Sailor
Moon to arrive. If he stalled, more people would get hurt. He had to
move quickly.

---

Sailor Venus was pacing through the wider streets of the suburbs with
Artemis striding beside her, Venus' long blonde hair blowing in the cold
wind as she rushed to cover as much territory as she could. She was in
very good condition physically, a natural athlete who could run
marathons. This wasn't a marathon: it was a race against time.

She was hoping that Artemis could sense evil energy if they came close
to it, but it wasn't up to them to track their enemy down. They were out
to find either victims or flush the monster out, depending on the
situation. One could also say they were sitting ducks out here alone.
They were the decoys.

---

Lita adjusted her dress for the final time as she knelt on the fine
wooden floor of the sacred chamber where the sacred flame burned. She
looked hard at the fire, convincing herself that this was the only way.
She had to do it. She didn't have any choice in the matter. They were
depending on her.

Deep inside, she was turning sick with fear. She'd never admit it, but
losing control like that was one of the most frightening things she had
ever experienced in her life. She was completely helpless. For her, that
was not a good feeling. She thought at the time she even liked it, but
the fact was, she may have, she might even have been completely
infatuated with that man, so tall, so handsome... but everything about
that whole event, earlier today, was an experience alien to her. What
frightened her was that there were things out there that she could not
face, well, not defeat, because facing them may well be what she was
doing now... if anything went wrong, she was done for. And that was just
the point: she had no idea what might happen. Now she wondered how Rei
ever managed.

That was her whole style, her whole way of doing things. She was a
priestess. She dealt with evil, with spirits, with fortune and fate.
Lita? She busted things up. Well, there was more to her than that, of
course, but especially with her powers of thunder, that was her
specialty. This wasn't her thing, it wasn't something she was good at.
What she was frightened of the most was... not knowing, not being able
to face what was out there. There were demons out there, and instead of
blasting them with her thunderclap, she was going to face them in a
battle of the mind.

No, there was something she was afraid of more.

Letting her friends down.

Okay, she thought to herself, take it easy, Lita. You've got only one
shot at this, so do it right. Forget the pressure - it's not that bad.
There's nothing out there that Rei didn't take care of. If you were out
cold for two hours, think of what the target felt. Was he enemy? Hey,
Lita, she berated herself, doesn't matter. What you're doing isn't that
hard. You just have to look for general things, look for where that
monster is.

She took one last long breath, shutting her eyes. Then she brought up
her hands, put them together, and opened her eyes. She began to
concentrate, to think of the fire, and to search for that monster.

---

Number eleven fell to the ground as the werewolf drained the second of
two young girls. So easy...

Not anymore. The creature's keen ears heard something passing nearby.
Something small just flew past. The beast turned around.

A rose?

The werewolf sniffed the air, and turned its gaze to its right side,
upward. So this was whom the Masked Lady had been talking about.

Standing on top of a lamppost, casually, it seemed, with his cane, a
perfectly balanced Tuxedo Mask, his cape flowing in the wind showing its
powerful red color, beared down upon the werewolf. The werewolf's answer
was to begin a blood-freezing howl that could be heard for many blocks.

After it had done, an unfazed but inwardly cautious Tuxedo Mask said,
"You won't be hurting any more people."

The werewolf's eyes glowed bright crimson, and it dashed towards the
post which Tux was standing on. Tuxedo Mask jumped from it,
sumersaulting in mid-air and landing far away, behind the werewolf. It
simply charged right in, and swiped its right claw at the steel pole
with its claw. The beast simply tore out three-quarters of the pole's
depth, and the pole immediately began to fall. The werewolf stepped to
the side and pushed, and the pole almost crushed Tuxedo Mask before he
jumped away.

Maybe this wasn't going to be as easy as Tux thought...

---

It wasn't much to go on, but Lita had some idea where that creature was.
Ten second later, Sailor Mercury's wristwatch began to beep. She asked
to it, "Jupiter? Is that you?" Lita, on the other end, said, "Yeah, it's
me. Okay, I can give you some directions, but nothing concrete so far."
Mercury said, "That's enough. I can do the rest by computer." It didn't
take long for Lita to give her instructions. Mercury signed off.

Sailor Moon, who was standing beside Mercury, asked if this was good
news. Mercury nodded.

---

Another rose flew past the beast. The problem was, the beast was too
fast, and nearly disemboweled Tux this time. The latter barely managed
to get out of range. Tux fought back by parrying with his cane, striking
the monster, but it was only a momentary setback. The creature leaped at
him, forcing Tux to jump away. That thing was fast. Its claws dug into
the concrete as it turned to follow.

The beast's eyes flashed, and it opened its mouth. A stream of
supercharged fire streamed at Tuxedo Mask. Tux tried to protect himself
by drawing his cloak over him. To the Abyss with Masked Lady's orders if
he was going to stop the mission, the beast followed. Tux extra crispy,
she thought. Tuxedo Mask disappeared from sight as the flame erupted all
around him, and engulphed him with the force of ever-burning flame. The
werewolf stopped the blast, and since there was nothing combustible -
besides Tuxedo Mask - nearby, the flames simply escaped to the sky and
dissipated. The beast began to laugh.

But Tuxedo Mask was still there.

And alive!

The beast stopped laughing, and was suddenly enraged. The cloak!
Impossible! It completely blocked the flames! Fine, then, the beast
decided. She'd have to do this the old-fashionned way.

She leaped fifty feet into the air, over Tuxedo Mask, and roared as she
came downwards, her claws extended far out so as to finish him off.
Tuxedo Mask dodged out of the way, and she ripped into the walkway. She
turned, her eyes the darkest red Tux had seen so far tonight, and her
mouth dripped with saliva, her fangs aggressively bared.

---

Venus was coming through on the commnicator. "Guys," she said, "you
should see this."

Mercury answered back, "I'm finally getting a fix on the enemy's
location. Looks like a single monster, but is emanations are unusually
strong. We need you here." Venus retored, "What I've found is very
strange." Artemis chimed in on his new communications system. "The
victims look like they had the life sucked out of them." Mercury
replied, "Well, that's not new. We really sho..." Artemis cut in, "Their
eyes are completely blank, and they're glowing a light blue. This is
serious." Mercury wondered aloud, "What could possibly cause such a
thing?"

Luna, who was listening in, answered, "You'll have to help them
afterwards. If you wait much longer there will be a lot more of them,"
she said in a tone of urgency. Everyone agreed - they had to move.

Lita listened impatiently, and tried to get more information from the
fire. She sensed someone was in danger...

She got a clear vision. No! Tuxedo Mask! He was in serious trouble!

---

Tuxedo's cane was broken, shattered into four pieces, two long ones and
two smaller splinters. His shoulder had deep claw marks right through
his clothing, and his cloak was in shreds. He was clutching his
shoulder, his top hat long knocked off. He was breathing hard, and in
his other hand, the one not clutching his wound, he had a rose in his
grasp, but he was kneeling on one knee, breathing hard. He couldn't take
much more of this, he thought to himself. A backhand swipe had cracked
two ribs as far as he could tell.

The werewolf wasn't even scratched.

Eager for the kill, it moved forward. Then she realized that she
couldn't finish him off. She cursed silently to herself. Masked Lady
would kill her personally if she finished him off.

Fine then. She said killed. The werewolf could break an arm or two.
No... that wasn't what she meant. Beating him into unconciousness would
be satisfying enough. If Masked Lady wanted to wake him up, she'd have
to do it herself.

No, it smiled inwardly. She said he was to be alive. But she didn't say
that his soul was off-limits. The beast chuckled greatly, advancing
towards the injured opponent. Oh, this was too evil. She would feast
upon him, and would be in ectasy. She would know true pleasure as his
soul left his body. The pain he would know... before he would know no
more, because he would know nothing.

The beast took another step. Tuxedo Mask looked at it. He wasn't done
yet. This beast was underestimating him.

Tuxedo Mask transferred the rose to his good hand, the one with the good
arm. He threw the rose straight at the monster. It wasn't scared, this
was even slower than usual. Tux was tiring now. But the rose erupted in
bright red energy, obscuring the vision of the creature. When the glow
subsided, Tuxedo Mask was not in front of her. Her ears were twiching
though...

She turned to her side and blasted fire.

Without his cane, without his cloak, and not expecting that fast a
recovery, Tuxedo Mask took the hit. He covered his face as he screamed
in agony as he was knocked down on his back by the force of the gaseous
flames. He was struggling to get back on his feet, to no avail.

And so it ended, she thought.

She was wrong. Not that she had much warning. All she heard were the
words, "Shabon Spray!" and she was surrounded by a cloud of wet fog. Not
that she was cold. That's what fur was for. She couldn't see, though,
and was caught by surprise by the next attack. "Crescent BEAM!!" A flash
of light came from the side, and the beast screamed as the shot scored a
direct hit in the side of the chest. It didn't penetrate, but it left a
painful burn.

The beast breathed fire, and steam surrounded the area. Another crescent
beam penetrated the steam, but the werewolf wasn't there.

Sailor Venus was wondering, "Where'd it go?"

Sailor Moon was just about to give her speech, but the steam cleared and
then she saw Tuxedo Mask. But no werewolf. Mercury was already using her
VR vision, but couldn't find any trace of her. Sailor Moon rushed
towards the fallen Tuxedo Mask, urgently pleading for him to give her
any sign that he was alright. Venus looked at Mercury, but she didn't
return the gaze. She was frantically trying to find the creature with
her computer.

---

Lita sensed what was going on. It was a good thing, too. If she didn't
act fast that thing would be long gone. She radioed Artemis first, and
told him, "Artemis, the creature's bailing. She's heading west from
where you are. It's going to get more power by stealing more souls. What
if it doesn't want to fight you?" Artemis spat back, "It doesn't have
to." He turned to Venus and Mercury, and said, "If we don't find that
thing now we're going to lose it."

They went over to Sailor Moon. Darien's mask had fallen off... or maybe
she had taken it off, they couldn't tell. At any rate Tuxedo Mask was
almost limp, and certainly in pain. He was saying, "...you have to go on
without me, find that thing." Sailor Moon turned to the others and said,
"I'm not leaving Tuxedo Mask." Mercury said, "We need you." Artemis
said, "We don't have time for this. Stay with him and make sure that
thing doesn't double back on us and finish him off. Let's go, girls."
Artemis was feeling rather authorotative tonight.

Sailors Venus and Mercury ran off, with Artemis behind them.

---

Luna asked Lita, "Do you think they'll find that creature?" Lita said,
"I don't like this..."

---

Venus gasped as she saw two more victims as they were on the werewolf's
trail. One was a young man, and he was simply unconcious against a
parked car, maybe his car. Not far off, laid down on her side, was a
young woman. Mercury was checking out the man, while Artemis was looking
around for the creature. Venus was looking over the woman.

A red-haired woman.

---

Lita screamed through the communicator as soon as she got the feeling
going on red alert inside her head, "VENUS!!! GET AWAY FROM THAT
GIRL!!!"

---

Mercury was starting to stand up. Oh no, she thought. Venus asked back,
"What do you mean, Jupit-" The eyes of the girl snapped open, cutting
Venus short of breath. The eyes had nothing but the eerie red glow in
them, the glow of the werewolf. But it was too late. The girl reached
out with both hands, clasping Venus' wrists. Venus screamed with all her
lung power as her energy was drained out of her.

She was too strong to give up her soul just yet, but she was an
excellent power source. The werewolf picked her up, though she was still
in woman form. Then, she tossed Venus aside, and began to grow in size.
Fur covered her skin, and her clothes shredded as her red fur covered
her once more. She was now fully morphed.

>From the side, Artemis leaped through the air at the creature. Without a
second thought it swung her left hand at him, backhanding him twenty
feet back. Artemis tried to get up from the ground, but had no strengh
left as he groaned in pain.

---

Lita said, "I'm losing the picture," in a tired voice. She said, "I'm
drained... I can't get anything now." Luna was worried...

---

Sailor Moon was horrified. She had heard Venus' scream, in full, over
her communicator. She was almost panicking... until Darien grasped her
hand. She looked into his eyes. He said to her, softly...

"Serena, you have to go. I'll be okay." Serena didn't want to hear it,
she was too worried about him. That's why he needed to put it this
way... "No matter how much you care for me, you have to think of all
those other people who are counting on you. You've got to help them.
You've got to leave me behind."

Serena said, "No! I can't do it!" Darien said, "They're counting on you!
Sailor Venus and Sailor Mercury could get killed if you don't save
them!" She said, "But what about you?"

He drew her close...

"You have to go, Sailor Moon. Come back to me..."

He was right. She had to go. And he called her Sailor Moon... oh, how
could she have been so stupid! She let her love blind her. What was she
thinking? If she really cared for him she should have been gone a long
time ago, moon-dusted that monster, and come back already. Those people
were counting on her! And her friends...

"I'll be back. Count on it." Then she left.

---

Mercury blocked another blast of fire with her bubbles. The creature
wasn't making much progress. Her fire attack was useless against this
water witch. She was small, though, and weak. One good shot was all she
needed to skewer her. Not seeing any particular reason not to, she
charged Mercury. Mercury had to leap out of the way.

"Shining Aqua Illusion!" Mercury tried to freeze the beast in ice, but
flames erupted around it and her attack was broken. Then it tried
attacking her again, her jaw wide open, dripping drool, out for blood.
Mercury used her shabon spray and knocked it back in mid-air, but it
wasn't enough. It charged again. She tried her shabon spray, but the
beast just leaped to the side. Then it came close - too close - and
Mercury barely ducked out of the way as the werewolf flew over her.

Before she could recover, it turned back and breathed fire on her,
singing her somewhat. She wasn't badly hurt, but the werewolf was almost
on top of her now...

She tried using her shabon spray, but the werewolf was too close. It
began draining her energy. Mercury couldn't fight it, and collapsed. The
werewolf stopped, and stood up, looked at the full moon, and howled.
