Infamous vs. Famous
Usagi sat on her bed, with the infamous cover decorated
by bunnies and crescent moons. Perhaps she would have
found some humor from the childish bed covering, but she was
too deep in thought. Which was quite amazing, considering her
character.
Ok--- something I would like to point out. My Mom, the professional editor
who gets paid mucho dolares to edit government documents, pointed out to me
recently that people use "infamous" a lot when you should really use "famous."
Reasons:
1. Infamous has negative connotations
def:
in·fa·mous (¹n“f…-m…s) adj. 1. Having an exceedingly bad reputation;
notorious. 2. Causing or deserving infamy; heinous. 3. Law. a. Punishable by
severe measures, such as death, long imprisonment, or loss of civil rights.
b. Convicted of a crime, such as treason or felony, that carries such a
punishment. --in“fa·mous·ly adv. --in“fa·mous·ness n.
2. Famous has positive connotations, or just indicates that it is a
well-known fact
def:
fa·mous (f³“m…s) adj. 1. Well or widely known. 2. Informal. First-rate;
excellent. --fa“mous·ly adv. --fa“mous·ness n.
Just wanted to point this out so that we all learn something :)
btw... great story!!
