This reminds me of a cartoon I saw once, where you see a woman holding a 
bunch of papers in one hand and slugging some guy behind a table.  One 
of the other two men behind the table turns to the other and says, "A 
wonderful defense of her thesis!  Let's grant her the doctorate."
