Hi I just got a new computer and while I should

it and put in windows 3.1?
Immediately dump Win95 into the nearest dumpster and,
if you choose to continue using Windows, install
Win 3.1 (or equivalent). I know too many people
(personally and net-friends) who have had too much
trouble with Win95 destroying their machines. The
kindest thing I've ever heard said about
Win95 is that it uninstalls well.

Let's hope this doesn't degrade into an OS war. Let me just end by
saying that, eventually, all new software will be written for Windows 95
and above; so, to keep up, it's best you start learning it now. My
experience and the experience of others makes me think you won't regret
it.
Who says this is 'war-bait'? I was just stating an opinion. I know no one
personally who has anything good to say about Win '95. That doesn't mean it
doesn't work for some people, otherwise so many people wouldn't be running it.
I also know that Micro$oft intentionally released Win '95 with patches,
workarounds, and known bugs in it. I'll be perfectly happy with Win 3.11
(and, btw, I'm not having any trouble at all finding compatible new
software) while I wait for the new version of Windows that they are still
working on to come out (the one that will be primarily the fixed version of
Win'95). Of course, they won't advertise it as a Win'95 upgrade - they'll
release it with a different name and be pushing the new bells and whistles
on it.
