Why are lemons called lemons?

named after this particularly risque anime (I have never seen it!) called
"Cream Lemon." I have never even seen it on the shelves, so I can't
enlighten you more.

I, err, saw an episode once (I swear I was just watching it for the
articles... or whatever...)  It was just an excuse for some sex scenes
(must have been written by a man ^_- ), with one of them taking place in
the cockpit of a really silly looking little SD mech.

I've heard that Project A-ko was originally going to be in the Cream
Lemon series, but it was turning out so well they took the sex out
and expanded it into a movie, although that could be wrong.

I'm sure the name has nothing to do with a bad car, but I guess it's
possible the series namer was a Led Zep fan.
