Tought I'd wait until the latest installment before posting this. There
was some speculation that Nodoka didn't know she gave birth to a girl.
However, I feel that she did. Why? Because her name is RANKO. If she was
brought up as a boy and no one other than Genma knew she was a girl than
why should she have two names, Ranma and Ranko, instead of just Ranma?
What's the need? If not even her mother knew and her father raised her as
a boy, then who would call her Ranko?
I feel that Nodoka knew and tolerated Genma raising their daughter as a
boy, even letting him call her Ranma. But how would she react if she knew
what had happened to her daughter?
It will be some time before Nodoka appears, so I may just as well dispel
the guessing now. She does *not* know about Genma's upbringing of Ranko.
After the birth Genma collapsed. The girl was named Ranko by Nodoka and
they went home. After some time of brooding and self-pity Genma devised
his "plan" and abducted Ranko. Nodoka has been hunting him ever since,
but wasn't too successfull because she never thought of looking for a man
with a "boy".
Of course, under Akane's influence Ranko begins spending more time as a
girl...
