M60 .30 cal Machine gun.  Can be equip with a "patrol sling" that the gunner
puts over his shoulder.  A strong enough man can fire bursts while carrying
it.  The Marines use this method.  The gunner also carries one belt in the
weapon while is assistant gunner carries the rest.

The SAW normally is supplied with a 200 round "box" magazine.  It fires the
standard 5.56mm round the M-16 uses (and in fact can use the M-16's clips if
you are desperate) at a machine guns rate.

However, if you are talking about being able to conceal such a weapon, yeah
not likely.
Maybe a SAW if you carried it under a large overcoat/duster.

I mean pulling out a shotgun is quite reasonable.. but I didn't want to go 
overboard....

If you want a shotgun, how about the Atchison.  12 gauge shotgun, can be
fired fully automatic. It can put a very large number of projectiles into
the air in a disturbingly short period of time. Very nasty against unarmored
targets.
