I double checked my copy of vol. 35, and on page 96 Konatsu introduces himself by saying, "Kunoichi, Konatsu Kenzan." So Konatsu is evidently the family name, and Kenzan the given name.<<
Not quite. I don't know why, I've seen a trend recently in manga, they're starting to put given name before family name now. So, you find names like "Ranma Saotome" instead of "Saotome Ranma" or "Akane Tendo" instead of "Tendo Akane". Therefore Kenzan is most likely his family name. You're luckly, I never got to know his family name in chinese/
but Konatsu, as well as the fact that the other time Takahashi uses the name >Konatsu, in Maison Ikkoku, she uses it as a female given name,
