First off, Thanks for re-posting!
Well, I can honestly say that it was interesting - actually, I rather
enjoyed it, but I do have one or two concerns -
First of all, there are a lot more opportunities to get doused with cold
water than there are with hot... it seems to me that you risk losing a
large comedic element always keeping Ranko [sic] in her 'cursed' form.
Though I thought the bit with the pool (Ranma, the pool is *heated*!) was a
very nice touch. ^_^
Second, while it seems to me that there is a certain lessening of the
initial conflicts (say the fact the Kunou wants to date Ranma and he is
really a boy) there is also a certain potential there for some really new
ones... (Will Akane and Ran(ko)ma really decide to marry?) - as well as
exploring some more... unusual aspects of the characters. (I can see some
really *interesting* lemons coming out of this one.)
Then there is the reversal of the twit factor. Ranko is a bit short
tempered, but not as much as Akane. While Ranma was a jerk most of the
time, Ranko is fairly polite until pushed, and Akane pushes as hard as
ever. Here, *Akane* is the jerk - and I think that could get interesting
if properly handled.
You say that you already have the ending relationships worked out... I will
be interested to see what you do with them... How will Shampoo, for
example, fit in? Does she think that she was defeated by a boy? When she
shows up, will she be trying to marry Ranma rather than Kill Ranko?
And what of Ucchan? Is Ukyou still a girl? Since Ranma was raised as a
boy (certainly not a new concept to any Takahashi fan) it is certainly
logical to assume that their relationship as kids would not change - and
that she would still have wanted to marry "him" (Thank Ghod they never
played "show and tell"!) ^_^ How will she react when she learns the
truth?
As for Genma, well, all things considered, I can certainly see how he would
act as he has done. Given his character (lack thereof) I can easily
believe that he would have deliberately cursed his daughter. And Soun's
reaction to Ranko's "sacrifice" is also perfectly in character.
How will Ryouga fit in? Does he know that Ranko is really a girl? How
will he react when he finds out? Who was that strange boy who knoked him
into the pool of drowned whatever?
On the whole, I shall be interested to see precisely where you are going
with this.
Looking forward to future installments,
Zen-
